I haven’t written a review for a restaurant in years but the food was so bad I had to write a review. We got two rolls for takeout & it wasn’t just mediocre - it was BAD. highly disappointed. I have no idea where the positive reviews came from.

Fresh and tasty sushi with great presentation.
Quality is top-notch, but a bit on the pricey side.
Still worth it for a treat!

Good was good, there still room for improvement. E. G Brocolini was underwhelming, it was ok ok, chewy and old. Tofu, tempura, rolls, were all decent and flavorful.

Great service. Fantastic food. Tempura was perfectly cooked. All sushi were of the highest standard. Our server was attentive, professional, and very helpful.
There are better izakaya options out there for the price, but not a bad option for business meals! Everything we had was pretty good, except the Maitake appetizer was not Maitake…

Food always great. Service was excellent. Very attentive and accommodating staff. And they don't rush us, allowing my party to really enjoy.
Ozumo at Santana Row feels like the kind of place James Bond might casually stop for sushi , sleek, modern, moody lighting, and that unmistakable cool vibe. Whether you’re here for a date, dinner with the crew, or just trying to flex your taste buds, Ozumo delivers style and substance.
🍱 Standout Dishes:
• Bluefin Toro Nigiri
Melt-on-your-tongue perfection. Seriously. Rich, buttery, and gone in two bites. Pricey, but worth it.
• Ozumo Roll
Signature roll packed with spicy tuna, avocado, topped with hamachi and jalapeño. A little kick, a lot of flavor, and beautifully plated.
• Wagyu Beef Skewers
Tender, juicy, and kissed by the grill , a must if you want to break up the sushi flow with something rich and savory.
• Miso Glazed Black Cod
Classic. Flaky, caramelized, and silky smooth. It’s one of those dishes that makes you pause mid-bite and go, “Damn.”
• Truffle Edamame
A bougie little starter but highly snackable , salty, earthy, and addictive.
🍸 Drinks & Atmosphere:
The cocktail game is strong. Try the Kyoto Mule or Yuzu Margarita , both fresh and balanced. Sake list? Extensive. Ask the servers for recs , they know their stuff.
As for the scene: trendy without being try-hard. Think upscale lounge meets sushi bar, with beats low-key vibing in the background. Perfect for when you want your sushi with a side of Santana Row people-watching.
💸 Price Check:
Yeah, it’s not cheap. You’re easily in the $25+ per roll zone, and nigiri by the piece adds up fast. But you’re paying for top-tier ingredients, polished service, and an ambiance that makes it feel like a night out, not just dinner.
Final Word:
Ozumo isn’t your quick sushi fix , it’s a whole experience. The quality is top-notch, the presentation is on point, and the vibe makes you feel like you’ve stepped into Tokyo via San Jose with a designer bag in hand. Pricey? Sure. But totally worth it for those treat-yourself nights.

It was my first time here and it was also a place I chose for my first date. It was so much fun!!! Food was amazing and we sat it an intimate booth. We will be back!!
I usually visit the location in San Francisco and have always been impressed—fresh, well-prepared food and great service. So, we decided to book the Santana Row location for my daughter's birthday, but unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The dragon roll (a baked item) came out dry and cold. Our waitress barely spoke or understood English, which led to our order being messed up not once, but twice. The high-priced meat, sold per ounce, was listed with a misleadingly low price—no mention anywhere that the minimum order is 3 oz, and no explanation given beforehand. The miso soup tasted fishy and unfinished, and most of the food was just okay at best. After a $200 bill, we were still hungry. The manager did come by to apologize, but no kind of compensation was offered—not even a small gesture. In the end, we left and went to another restaurant to actually eat. Very disappointing experience, especially on a special occasion.
David gave the best service! I ordered a sake sampling, miso soup, bluefin, a hand roll and a roll and all were amazing and so fresh! David gave awesome recommendations and made me feel so welcomed especially by myself. I will definitely be back again during my trip just because of him! Thank you David!!!
