Pretty good malasadas. Filling does not compare to Leonards

Overall I liked this place but it’s not life changing. I found the filled pastries to be just a tad bit drier than I would have liked but as a whole, I did enjoy them. I had the custard and the coconut ones. I also had a few of the tarts and found the custard and blueberry ones to be my favorite. I value ethnic cuisine and am glad there is a Portuguese bakery that is thriving. Wishing them continued success even if I personally may not crave this type of stuff often. I’m still glad it’s accessible.

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Hype or Price

I had been seriously craving Pastel de Nata, so I was excited to find a place in the Bay Area selling them. However, that excitement quickly faded.

Upon walking in, I was surprised by the high prices-$4 for a single pastel de nata! Still, I went ahead and ordered two pastéis de nata and one dulce de leche Malassada. But when I got home, I realized they had given me an egg cream Malassada instead of the dulce de leche one I clearly and repeatedly asked for.

This was especially disappointing because I wasn’t in the mood for the egg cream Malassada-and to make things worse, it tasted very underwhelming. As for the pastéis de nata, they were far from the authentic ones you'd find in Lisbon. The texture and flavor just didn’t live up to expectations, and my cravings were definitely not satisfied.

Overall, the experience was a letdown. Between the mix-up, the mediocre taste, and the steep prices, I’ll be looking elsewhere for more authentic and satisfying options.

I liked that were a lot of delicious breads. I liked that they weren’t too sweet and were soft.

Portuguese famous malasadas are available here. Try to get in early or expect waiting. Chocolate Nutella malasada is yum 😋

Bought myself a cappuccino.
And a croissant tuna sandwicht hat was delicious? and also a 6 count of their donuts.

Flew in from out of town looking forward to the Portuguese tarts…

Stood in line for 10min. No orders were taken by the 4 staff the whole time, while the line just kept getting longer with everyone staring at the full case of pastries. 2 were preparing food, one was doing something with the espresso machine but not making coffee, and another was doing something with the cash register. Still wondering why they werent taking orders.

Oh my goodness! HIGHly recommend this bakery and the egg tarts! Literally tastes like Pasteis de Belem … or just Pasteis de Nata. The tarts were piping hot when I purchased them and even 20 minutes later, they were still pretty warm.

I would recommend ordering in advance (if that’s an option) or coming early. They were sold out of almost everything early in the afternoon on a Saturday. I’ll plan better next time!

Purchased their traditional nata and malasadas. The nata skin/crust does have multiple layers and give a good crunch and flake. But the custard middle does not taste of eggs at all instead taste like corn starch or flour. Very put off taste. As some one who’s made Portuguese eggs tarts and eaten plenty of Hong Kong egg tarts in dimsum. This nata is mostly a disappointment. The malasada is good. The dough is very yeasty taste. And the fillings are flavorful without being overly sweet. But the only down fall is the size. Just too big. A little smaller portion at a lesser cost would be more appetizing. I’m comparing to Leonard’s malasada.

Quality baked goods and sandwiches. Their pasteis de nata has a molten texture custard which tasted good although I do prefer a creamier texture. I wasn’t crazy about their malasada, the Dulce le leche filling wasn’t my favorite flavor-wise so I’d try a plain or cream filled one instead. I also got a tuna melt which was filling and delicious, with lots of melty cheese and tuna salad.

Very good traditional pastel de nata ($4 each), ham and cheese and the coconut brioche. Would love to try more offerings.

The pastel de nata is somewhat different from the version I had two years ago when the shop first opened. I remember them being warm when served (the ones I got today were cold). Also, the current version is very sugary. Not only is it bad for your health, all that sugar will obscure any subtle flavors in the food. If they made the original version again, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
