What happened to this place? The cakes are ok but they are so dry now... not the same as it was 10+ years ago.

Hands down one of my favorite bakeries in San Jose! I came 30 min before closing on a weekday and was surprised to see how many people were still coming in to get their Peters' Bakery fixes before they closed for the day. The burnt almond cake is my absolutely favorite because it's the perfect sweet treat that's also not overly sweet. I've gotten it in a full size cake form and also cupcake form which is nice cause I can still get my fix no matter how many people I'm catering to. There were other baked goods options that I will definitely try next time. The staff were also super friendly, nice, and speedy so I got in and out pretty quickly. Parking was easy-ish, but I can imagine it might be a little hard if it's super busy or if you come on the weekend.

I ordered a create your own chocolate cake. The online process was easy and when I called them to ask if I could pick up the cake slightly early, the girl I spoke to was very nice. However, parking was a nightmare, the employee in the bakery who checked me out was a bit rude, and the cake ended up being extremely dry. No one went back for seconds. Was not worth the hassle of going there or the money.

Bought a whip cream cake, that did not taste like whip cream at all. Cake was dry. It was white with bananas. Very disappointed. Not returning.

amazing burnt almond cake. they run out of it, so always advised to pre-order. wasn't a fan of their other pastries though.

Burnt almond cake is the best. Place is too busy to spend much time inside. Great old style bakery that draws people from all over South Bay.

I'm told there is usually a line for this place but I came at a good time. The service was great and the stuff they had were fresh as well as unique. I was too full but I still.tried an bear claw and it was so crispy outside but soft inside, without being overly sweet. OK, I also tried the chocolate cake and eclairs and they were delicious too. I'm not even a cake person, but I liked the moist dense chocolate cake. I dont have pics cuz I couldn't wait to try them at home, so I ate them in the car :P

My girlfriend had not been in this neighborhood in 30 years, and when she saw it still open and we had to stop.
The place is small, and it was surprising to have to wait in line just to get in the door. It was not a long wait, but that says it all.
Everything is delicious. The service is A1, and there is plenty of history.

I couldn’t believe people are handling food without gloves.. one man was wearing gloves out of the five I saw… using wax paper on cookies.. but picking up cup cakes with bare hands…
