I've been eating at Sam's for years and over time it's just slowly trending down in taste and quality. Yesterday's smoked chicken salad was very disappointing. Small thin dry pieces of chicken on top of chopped lettuce with croutons and onions. Nothing about this dish good or satisfying. They should put greater effort into making this menu item taste good with better quality ingredients or take it off the menu.

I had the Italian sausage sandwich. When I received it I looked simple and disappointing. But my God when I bite into the sausage, I've never had anything better. It is worth the taste. Will definitely come back to try the other sandwiches

Brisket and chicken (both breast and dark meat) VERY much on the dry side. ESPECIALLY the brisket. Steer clear. Ribs were ok. Whoever is in the kitchen today you really screwed up the brisket or in general the brisket and chicken here is dry. The brisket pics from 7 years ago look great though. AND ROOM TEMPERATURE BRISKET DELIVERED TO OUR TABLE, NOT EVEN WARM!? You gotta be kidding me w this BS. CMON.

My husband and I like to come here. He loves the Baby back ribs and baked potato. I prefer the chicken or brisket or a salad. Although they do an excellent job on the meat, I find the salad leaves a bit to be desired. It seems to be a packaged salad, like we find in the grocery stores, with some smoked chicken put on top. However, the servers are friendly and helpful. In the last few months they have added some nice upgrades to the facilities. There is now a bar and the menu is up on well-lit monitors. The pictures from the early years of San Jose give the restaurant a retro feel. It is fun to see. I also like their closed in patio where a blue grass band plays at least once a week.

Brisket crumbled with a fork. The texture was more like jerky thank brisket. The ribs were crunchy and dry. I was there during lunch with a a decent sized crowd so there's no excuse to be serving dried food. The potato salad was decent but the chili was bland. Friendly service though.
