Best Japanese mochi in the bay. Been visiting this place since 2019. Their mochis are made fresh and yes they do go bad real fast if you don't consume them within 3-4 days. They're super soft with some chew, the perfect blend imo. I've been preordering and picking it up, they've never disappointed. Favourites are the chichi daango, yokan, and kinako.
I was finally able to purchase it on my third visit. 4 pieces for $10. Kinakomochi is a fluffy liquid. Almost a drink. The red bean paste is also elegant. The butter mochi has a Hawaiian flavor. Old-fashioned homemade taste. Healing that you no longer eat. I wonder how many people's hearts have been comforted and healed so far.
Shuei-Do has always been one of my go tos for homemade mochi in the Bay Area and even more so now that Benkyodo closed down.
Highly recommend the butter mochi, white bean mochis, Monaka, and if you’re curious to try other ones, kinako.
They do run out on the weekends and towards the end of the day.
While mochi is vegan/ gluten free, they sometimes use non gluten free and dairy ingredients.
