Family owned business hand down probably the best or at least one of the best burgers you'll ever have in your life!!! The mixture of mayo with ketchup is perfect. The burgers are always so juicy. The cheese and the patty taste great. Your only regret is wishing you didn't buy more. Everytime I come here I buy AT LEAST 2 double cheeseburgers two of them!! The burger just melts in your mouth it's unbelievable delicious! On top of that Sonia is very friendly!:)

Sonia's Kitchen is the BEST place for steak sandwiches in San Jose, CA. It's not a fancy place(the opposite in fact). Its mostly a take out place but they do have an outdoor seating area. It's location is not ideal. But if you want to have the best steak sandwich ever, this is the place to go. It is owned by a Filipino mom and son duo (not Korean as some past reviews have stated). My favorite is the mushroom and provolone steak sandwich. I usually get the small size which is pretty filling for me. But my hubby and son go for the medium sized pepper steak sandwiches. The bread is always fresh and the meat is tender and well seasoned. They also serve burgers (which are good) but why get the burger when the steak sandwiches are heavenly?!

Okay, seriously though, Ive been coming here with my mom since I was literally 6 or 7 years old. So Sonja has literally watched me grow up and never lets me forget she loves me. Let me just say that Sonja and her Son are the best people in the entireeeee world & her cheese steaks are to die for ! Ive gotten the same thing for like 20+ years & it never ceases to amaze me how juicy, flavorful and filling my cheese steak is. Anywho, i highly suggest you try everything on the menu. I personally get a medium cheese steak wit mushrooms onions and peppers and provolone cheese. Its the greatest

I first ate at Sonia's Kitchen in 1978 and they were amazing. They used to have chili burgers and lumpia, and apparently they no longer sell these. They were in a blue building that looked like a converted service station. I ate there until the building shut down and I moved out of state. I am just now seeing they are still open. The closure 30+ years ago must have been for remodeling. My favorite steak sandwich was steak and mushroom. Used to get a large one for less than$4
