They came as a pop up to my work place. Tamales were fireee. I got three with different meats and they filled me up and were the best tamales I’ve ever had. They were bigger than any I’ve seen. Nice service too

Wow, we decided to take a chance since they only had 5 reviews and it was worth it!! The tamales are big and a decent price! Very delicious flavors and the dough is light and fluffy. My best friend ordered 1 each first to try, we ended up getting 3 dozens! My best friend doesn't like the flavor of pork generally and she LOVED the red spicy pork here. And I normally don't enjoy the sweet corn tamales and these were delicious! Will definitely be coming back when I visit San Jose again and will be spreading the word. I wish them the best of luck with their business!

At first, I was skeptical when my wife mentioned a place called Tamales El Tamalero. I’ve tried so many tamale spots over the years that just didn’t live up to the hype. But, long story short—I decided to give it a try, and I honestly can’t find the words to express the satisfaction I felt here. From the welcoming customer service to the quality of the food, this place is on a whole different level.

After years of searching for truly exceptional tamales, I finally found them here. The way they blend flavors is amazing, and the grand surprise was the chilaquiles topping on the tamales—just wow! And their champurrado? It’s one of the best I’ve ever tasted, so rich and delicious. Tamales El Tamalero is an experience worth savoring!

The tamal I recently tried was an absolute delight, perfectly encapsulating everything a tamal should be. Wrapped in a warm, soft corn husk, it was filled with a savory blend of ingredients that melded together in perfect harmony. The masa was incredibly soft and fluffy, moist but not overly so, which made it the ideal base for the filling. Inside, the spiced pork (or chicken) was tender and flavorful, infused with a sauce that had just the right amount of kick.

What really impressed me was the balance of flavors—nothing was too overpowering, allowing each bite to highlight the rich, earthy taste of the masa with the slightly tangy and spicy filling.
