Small shop that has good portions of yummy food. I got a family tray to try multiple things and it was all good!
Best Persian restaurant in the Bay Area
The food is delicious. Portions are big. There are no servers. You order from a kiosk or the couner.
Perfect kabobs
Little pricy but worth it
The food is exceptional. Perfect blend of spices & cook to perfection. Personally I love the lamb chops but everything else are very very good too. However, don't expect a fancy dating nice restaurant vibe. We came here for the food. You are standing to order and find a place to sit down kind of restaurant. Family friendly, kids friendly. Not very crowded when I visited. They have a lot of takeout orders. Love it, went there a couple of times. Just because I live in the East Bay, it's not that easy for me to go there, otherwise I would be a regular there.
Great taste and quality of food with a reasonable price. For sure I will try it again ☺️

This place is everything that you want in an authentic Persian cuisine. I live in Southern California and have tried many kabob restaraunt throughout my entire life in northern and Southern California. This is by far the BEST spot in all of California and it’s not even close.

My nonpersian friends ordered trays of Koobideh (ground beef & lamb skewer), Barg (beef), and Joojeh (Chicken) to take out.
Koobideh was rare. I called them and discussed. No intenton of getting my money back or an exchange (which was nicely offered). I just did so as an Iranian trying to show our food is of better quality and this should be a mistake to my friend.
Sad part is that the chef told me he knows what he did and he let the skewers be juicy. I reminded him that I am Iranian who grew up on this cuisine (was speaking Persian anyhow). Thanked him and hung up. See picture attached. This is AFTER we cooked the skewer for 5 mins on 450 `F. See the pink core. Had to throw the Koobideh skewers out.
Rice was also spicy.
Chicken was so so and Barg was good. This and the refund offer are why I am not giving 1 star.

Disappointing Experience - Not What I Expected
I visited Taste of Persia SJ for the first time, and unfortunately, it will also be my last.
The experience started off poorly—there was no one to welcome or assist guests. Instead, you’re required to place your order on a self-service tablet. I ordered the Soltani Kabob dish with a salad. To my disappointment, the bread served was store-bought pita, not freshly baked naan, which is a staple of authentic Persian dining.
Other shortcomings included no water being served, and the silverware was an odd mix of plastic and metal. Additionally, there was no sabzi khordan (herbs) provided, which is a common and expected side in Persian meals.
One of the hallmarks of Persian culture is its warmth and hospitality, but sadly, that was absent here. While the food quality was mediocre at best, this place might be better suited for takeout or delivery rather than dining in.

We discovered this spot through an Instagram ad and decided to stop by to give it a try. We ordered Tray 1, which included a combo of four skewers with koobideh and chicken thigh. My friends each ordered different trays, but we all agreed on one thing, this place and its food are fantastic.
The koobideh was incredibly tender, practically melting in our mouths, and the chicken was perfectly seasoned, juicy and full of flavor. The manager was welcoming and friendly, adding to the positive experience.
I can’t say enough about how great their food is. We’ve tried many Persian restaurants around the Bay Area without feeling the need to return, but this place truly stands out. It’s the best Persian food in the area, and we’ll definitely be coming back!
