I was SO bummed when we tried this place. I had seen tons of good reviews on Nextdoor and we were in the area so thought we'd try ..... Totally regret it for $70. 2 lunch specials and two apps. The best thing was definitely the Thai rota. The eggplant and Thai basil was BLAND BLAND BLAND. Two pp in our party used that word. I will never stray from Oros Thai ever again. Big mistake also the rice was sooooo soggy. I have loved Thai food for 20 years and never had such soggy rice. It's pretty hard to mess up white rice!

I was excited to experience a new Thai place. I called and ordered: Yellow curry with beef, Eggplant with beef, Drunken noodles with pork and Basil fried rice with prawns. Their service was slow. The food just mediocre. Their beef was so tough and inedible. Pork and prawns were done right.

I've been wanting to try this place for some time and I finally decided to when I was feeling sick and wanted soup! I got the coconut noodle soup with tofu & veggies and I got it Thai spicy! I was a little scared of how spicy it might be but honestly, it was not bad. Still, would not advise if you feel like you are sensitive to spice because you can visually see more pieces of actual Thai chilies in the dish. I've since gone back to have this again and it was the perfect comfort dish, like a hug from the inside to help me feel better but fuel me with something absolutely delicious! I also had the Thai tea and it was made perfectly! Not too milky and not too sweet. It's one of the better Thai teas that I've had at any restaurant. This place only offers pick-up orders. I didn't see it on any delivery service. Definitely easiest to just call in your order. The interior is very small and not designed for a sit-in meal. They're always nice and have the orders done a bit faster than the estimated time they give you.

This was my first time ordering from Thai Mama. I put an online order in the morning for a 5:40 PM pick up and when I arrived, the place was in chaos from nonstop phone orders, and the kitchen was working hard I could tell. Unfortunately, it took my food longer than expected. I didn't get it till closer to 6 PM.The panang curry tofu was OK though not as flavorful as others. The drunken noodles were OK, very generous on the prawns. The papaya salad was delicious, definitely should order. I ordered ginger fish and when I got was actually pineapple fish which was not good so that was kind of disappointing. Overall I like supporting mom and pop businesses like this, so I will go again maybe a day that they're not so busy and try different dishes I like that they offer noodle soups which most Thai restaurants don't and that everything can be made vegetarian. If you really like your food spicy, don't order medium, it wasn't spicy at all.

Another evening with great consistent quality of food. We ate too quick and didn't take photos.

We tried Thai Mama for the first time tonight. We were both craving Thai food and knew this place was close to our house and that they have great yelp reviews. They only do takeout which worked out perfectly because we planned on takeout for tonight, anyway.I phoned in our order. The gentleman taking my order was very polite and kind. I ordered the Thai samosas, pad thai with prawns, mango special stir fry with chicken, the panang curry with chicken, the pineapple fried rice with pork, the pineapple curry with prawns and a side of steamed. All items were ordered with mild spice, which was perfect for us.Our favorite items were the samosas and the two curries. The samosas were definitely made fresh and had two delicious sauces. The panang curry and pineapple curry were both so flavorful and delicious. The pineapple fried rice was also excellent and had great flavor. The pad thai with prawns was also very good.I really appreciate that they left the bean sprouts out, as I requested. Our least favorite was the mango special stir fry with chicken. I think the main problem here was the chicken. The chicken was overcooked and very dry. In fact both the chicken and the pork protein options were overcooked and dry in all the dishes we ordered. The shrimp in both the pad thai and pineapple curry were cooked perfectly.I would definitely order from here again but will probably not choose the chicken or pork for proteins.Side note: I was told that our order would be ready at a certain time. When my husband went to pick it up it was not ready. He had to wait an extra 20 minutes. So I would definitely wait a bit longer to pick up our food next time. Inside: there are a few chairs inside and outside for you to sit while waiting for your food but no tables. We look forward to getting takeout from here again and trying other menu items.

This place used to be our favorite, but our last 3 orders have really been a downhill experience since when they first took over for Thai Love You. The food used to be delicious, but now it's overcooked proteins in a sauce that has suddenly lost the complexity and flavor that it used to have. Add to that, the amount of ingredients in each curry dish has been shrinking. We used to have leftovers, now we have none. Add to that the already overpriced food, and it makes for a disappointing experience. I hope to go back, but when it costs me $20 for a chicken curry that barely has anything in it and it's dry and overcooked, well, that's disappointing. I hope they can fix things back to how they were, otherwise they probably won't last.

Great local neighborhood restaurant with freshly prepared and delicious traditional Thai food.

Basil stir fry was inedible, prepared with spoiled bamboo shoots. Smelled like ammonia/urine.To their credit, when I called to complain they offered to replace it, indicating they suspected there was a problem with their canned bamboo shoots. Fair enough; mistakes can happen, I'm OK with that. I started to drive back but on the way back someone else (the manager?) called and said they didn't have ingredients to make a replacement so they offered me a dish of my choice. I figured I'd try the Pad Thai. They also said they would refund the purchase in addition to replacing. That seemed fair.I got the Pad Thai, which was overly sweet and I couldn't eat it. Oh well. At least I had been refunded. The other thing I had ordered was the yellow curry which was OK, but bland.I probably won't be going back. There are much better Thai options near Almaden.EDIT: the owner reached out very shortly after posting with sincere apologies and refunded the whole meal. He was also eager for me to try another dish with his complements. I want to support local Almaden businesses and this business owner clearly cares. So I have left my food comments in place but upgraded my review for service and attentiveness, and customer service. If you have a problem, reach out to them, they want to make their customers happy. Definitely give them a try; your tastes may differ from mine.

Great quality food. Mild spicy was just right for family that doesn't like spicy food. Chicken Satay was moist and flavorful. I loved the drunken noodles. Great service, asked great questions to avoid any allergy problems.

Very disappointed in their service. Call them tried to order take out. They told us the order will not be ready until one hour and 30 mins later. We understood they are busy so it's not a big deal for us. And then the lady over the phone said in a very sharp and impatient tone of voice " you wanna take it or no"? Excuse me ? Take what? Take your bad altitude?

To-go only. I recommend you order ahead of time so you don't have to wait. It was my 1st time today. The cashier (semi-bald lady) was rude. She asked me to ring the bell when I was ready & I said "oh I think I'm ready," in a friendly tone. She rolled her eyes, huffed & puffed & blew the house down! Jk, but she did scoff & roll her eyes. I started ordering, and she yelled, "WAIT!" I guess the computer was being slow or something, idk. Once I was done ordering, she said my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes, but once she realized I didn't leave a tip, she said, "Actually, it will be ready in 30-40 minutes" I always leave at least 15% tip for takeout everywhere I go, even cafes & jamba juice but I felt discouraged to tip anything at all because she was rude for no reason.

This place is delicious! The woman who runs everything was super sweet and very helpful. Everything tastes very fresh. Pad thai has tons of flavor, basil fried rice is hot and fragrant. Fried calamari with plum sauce crispy and the sauce is oily and tasty. Can't wait to come back!

Just tried this little startup for the first time. Their Satay chicken is really good. The chicken is moist and the peanut sauce very tasty. I wanted to try their Roti with curry sauce, but felt that $11+ for essentially two pieces of bread was priced too high, so I passed on that one. All in all, a very good start, and I'll go again.

best Thai food in south San Jose with a vast menu and delicious food. Must try Spicy basil fried rice, Thai samosa, Thai Roti and Mango with sticky rice. It's a take-out-only restaurant. You can order online or in the restaurant directly. The service is quick, and the people are amicable.
