Visiting from out of town and I needed a mimosa and breakfast. Toast didn't disappoint! Food portion was excellent, hot, prepared to my order specs. Anna and her crew hooked it up in every way. Working in food service myself I know what to expect from excellent service, Anna didn't let me down. I know where I'm going when I roll back through San Jose.

Toast Cafe & Grill is a cozy brunch spot located in Willow Glen with a nice and variety filled menu. Located in a shopping center it was easy to find parking and although it was busy we were able to find seating for 4 relatively quickly. They offer both indoor and outdoor dining which is nice. We opted for outdoor seating and they have heating lamps around to make the experience more comfortable. The restaurant is clean and has a nice vibe to it so we were very optimistic about our experience and we ordered pretty quickly.
We ordered green chilaquiles with coffee and old fashioned pancakes plus bacon and hashbrowns with chocolate milk. The waiter also pointed out that by comboing everything it would be cheaper which ended up saving us some money on he order. Our food did take quite a bit of time to come and they forgot one of our dishes as well which was unfortunate because everything up until that point had been smooth. When all the food finally arrived we all dug in and the results were a bit mixed. The green chilaquiles were okay, nothing about them really stood out and we felt like it was a dish you could’ve eaten just about anywhere, i.e. it was nothing to write home about. Likewise, the pancakes were just okay. They were a bit too soft and doughy and that’s coming from people who like their pancakes on the doughier side. Ironically, on the other side of the table our friends ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes which were much, much better and we wish we had gotten that because it was a hit all around.

Food was good. Drinks were great. I've tried to go twice before but there was a huge wait so this time we went a little earlier and had no problem getting a table.

Food is actually really good. It's a shame that the service is as bad as it is. My server's attitude was completely unwarranted. I'm a server as well so I know all the things that customers can do to inconvenience or anger server's. So I always take it upon myself to read the menu, know what I want by the time my sever gets to me, not take too much of their time while ordering not make them do multiple laps due to me ordering 1 thing at a time etc... so I know when a server is being rude to me, it's not my fault. The lady who took my order (dark curly hair) was very rude. She never said please or thank you. The second I placed my full order she snatched the menu off the table quickly and ran away. She never checked on me the whole time I was eating. I had to flag her down to ask for a box & the check. When I asked her she just looked at me & turned away quickly. It's a shame that the service is so bad because even though the food is good, it's not worth having someone give you bad vibes for literally no reason. It feels like paying someone to be rude to you. I'm not a masochist. I still tipped 18% but I should've left 0.

First time eating here and I loved my meal. I ordered the chorizo skillet with two eggs, and the whole dish was really flavorful. It came with pico de gallo, fresh avocado, and everything tasted good and well-seasoned. I had a coffee, which was just okay, but my friend ordered the Dubai chocolate matcha and absolutely loved it.
We were here with a large group, and the staff was incredibly attentive and helpful. I'd definitely go back. Bonus: parking is pretty easy!

Service was terrible. From arriving it felt like we were bothering them. The server seem completely bothered that he has to serve, never got a refill in our coffee until we asked, again bothered. Even when asking for the check it took for ever to bring that out. Not sure if it was me or I was being profiled. First and last time, it’s sad I really wanted to make this my breakfast spot after all the good things I’ve heard.
