Tie between unagi and mantai cream udon. Both are insane

Went to Udon Mugizo with my family tonight on New Year’s Eve. Our food arrived within 5-15 minutes, which was must faster than expected, especially on a holiday. The beef combo and Niku Udon didn’t have a lot of meat or vegetables. The service was incredibly good, and we even chatted with our server!

Really good udon, soft and chewy texture. The tempura has a smokiness flavor to it. I can really get used to it. Their prices are on the slightly pricier side, so won't be a weekly thing. That said, I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a proper udon joint.

Solid Udon place. They have good solid udon, I recommend the creamy seafood (Mentai) one. Sometimes it gets crowded but overall their service is pretty good.

First time. Food was pretty good and the service was fast.
The mentai udon was a bit runnier than I like but still good. There was quite a queue but we got on the list on our way over, so it wasn't a big issue for us.
Seating was configured in close quarters/high density so we did feel a little restrained as far as topics of discussion.

Passing by on my way to the city. I stopped for an early dinner because I was ahead of schedule. Normally I would search for a ramen shop but I decided to give this place a try. Very unassuming from the outside. Very nicely decorated inside. Only marred by very loud Asians. The host promptly sat me at the bar. Good view of the kitchen. Ordered the large chicken katsu with beef curry udon. The bowl made the portion look small. Inside was chunks & chunks of melt in your mouth tender beef. The connective tissue was holding the muscle together barely because it was so soft from being stewed for so long. Perfectly seasoned, the curry & salt permeated through the thick chunk of beef. The udon was cooked through & had a nice chew. Did I mention that I usually avoid udon shops because I prefer other types of noodles? The katsu was only okay but its not to be blame. The beef curry was the star. They need to rename the dish to Large Chunky beef curry. Not beef gristle curry... The waiter sucked but the head busser took care of me.
Kid-friendliness: Don't bring your noisy kids. This is not a family restaurant. The atmosphere is good for dates.
Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of room to accommodate wheelchairs.

they are pretty understaffed. host person went MIA for 20 min and none of the waiters acknowledged our existence. udon is good quality but the broth and beef are both wayyy tooo salty. like i need to take a nap right after salty. after all this i would rather go to marugame udon for the same stuff
