We lunched here on a Saturday in July 2025. Got there around noon and the place was full, but we were given a table without much waiting.
The waiters were friendly and solicitous and the food was delicious, notably the fried rice and spring rolls.
It's partially self service restaurant, in the sense that you need to pick up the individual crockery and cutlery and water from a neatly laid out pile on an outer table.

We got catering from Vegetarian House Vegan for our small family wedding (14 guests) and it was fantastic!

Sunny was incredible to work with on the catering menu and was incredibly dedicated to making sure our wedding dinner came together. He made several suggestions on how to alter our initial order and boy was he right! The Spicy Cha Cha which we hadn't initially included ended up being a group favorite and all the food came together so wonderfully.

Everyone, even the omnivores, loved the dinner and we couldn't recommend them more! Thank you!!!!!!!

Great food, very decent portions, friendly accommodating staff. I eat here when I am exhausted and my body needs healthy protein and nutrients to recover. And bonus of getting to support a small business :)

Great wok hey on fried noodles/chow mien! Tiramisu is also delicious if they happen to have it.
Get the sizzling asparagus seitan dish if you dine in! Having it togo is tasty too (and you can use the delicious extra sauce for something else) but the iron plate is really good.

4.4/5. Really good options for vegetarian, vegan. Unique variety and ingredients in dishes and all flavored well with common flavors of E, SE Asian cuisine. Quiet atmosphere tucked away and spacious eatery.

Most of the dishes are unique and great.
However for the price of each dish and given the area, i would like to dine in. These years whenever we go we have to sit on the patio.

We walked for 30 minutes from our hotel, filled with high hopes for our meal at Vegetarian House Vegan, which boasted an impressive 4.6 rating on Google Reviews. Upon our arrival, however, we were informed that indoor dining was only available on weekends, leaving us with the outdoor seating option. Initially, we tried to remain optimistic and chose a table, but to our dismay, we were met with a strong smell of urine in that area. We quickly moved to another table, hoping for a better experience.

Next, we attempted to place our order via the QR code, but the process proved frustratingly slow. After about 20 minutes, we still encountered issues with card payment, adding to our stress as we were on a tight schedule for medical appointments.

To make matters worse, our meals were served on disposable plates, bowls, and utensils—something we hadn’t anticipated based on the reviews we read. Regardless of whether these disposables were biodegradable, it detracted significantly from the dining experience. Eating from proper plates and using real cutlery enhances the enjoyment of a meal, and the use of disposables reminded me of the less favorable takeaway experiences during the pandemic. Thankfully, we always carry our own stainless steel chopstick set, which at least provided some comfort.

Now, let’s discuss the food itself. We ordered Bun Hue, stir-fried mixed vegetables, and Malaysian fried curry noodles. As someone from Malaysia, I was particularly looking forward to the curry noodles, but I was disappointed to find them overly saturated with coconut milk—far from the authentic flavors I know. Both noodle dishes were excessively soggy, and the Bun Hue soup had a taste that was quite peculiar. The only redeeming dish was the mixed vegetables, which were nicely prepared.

Overall, the experience felt more like dining in a national park without proper amenities, rather than enjoying a meal at a well-reviewed restaurant. It was disheartening to miss out on what could have been a wonderful dining experience in San Jose. šŸ˜•šŸ˜•šŸ˜•

Amazing vegetarian food but it can be such a challenge to order take out from here. I tried calling to place an order, no answer. I tried calling again to place an order and got their automated message but the menu options don’t correspond with the options provided. I tried placing an order online but I was not able to finally click the button to ā€œplace an orderā€. This is also the second time I’ve experienced this at Vegetarian House and wish they would figure this out so that it isn’t so fustrating for their customers.
