The overall dining experience was outstanding primarily due to the service, courtesy and attention of the owner and the staff. They were engaging, courteous, patient and helpful with suggestions on our order. I would highly recommend this restaurant and its cuisine.
Tried it because of good reviews. 3 tables were being served when we arrived. We had reservations and were seated immediately.4 parties arrived after us - all walk ins, we had a reservation with a bday. 3 of the 4 parties were served & finishing up their dinner before ours even arrived, parties that walked in well after we did.Dinner came 1.5 hours after we were seated! We had to rush thru dinner & skip dessert as we were running late for a show at that point.Nice enough server but was overwhelmed and didn't manage the tables well. Others got quick service & the rest barely got acknowledged.Good food but pretty bummed we didn't get to enjoy it. And side note: no one acknowledged the birthday.

Had high hopes when checking this place out. I'm a big fan of our other local Italian restaurants and San Juan and Dana point. I was a little bit let down with my experience there. Table service was a little bit slow and it took quite a while for the food to get out of the kitchen, even things like the minestrone soup and Caesar salad. The preparation of the food was pretty good. However, the risotto didn't seem like it had the right time of rice, it seemed like a regular short grain rice, something that you might find in Mexican food. The salmon was prepared pretty well but definitely a bit oversalted. The fettuccine alfredo was heavy on the butter and light on the cream. Tried the tiramisu for dessert and just wasn't really that impressed. There is a ton of cocoa all over the dish and it really just didn't have much flavor. There's absolutely plenty of parking here. There's a decent wine selection. The pizzas that came out of the kitchen all looked pretty good. However, I didn't try any. The bread and pesto that were brought to the table were delicious. There's only one small bathroom for a single person which wasn't a big deal. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. There's a little more outside patio seating than there is inside seating. The patio seating outside is nice and provides a nice ambience. No complaints about the chairs or tables for inside or outside. I'll give it another year and then come check this place out again and update my review then.

Food was very good. Service was very slow and marginal. Server didn't check back after meal was served. When appetizers were removed, used silverware was placed back down onto the table. A non service dog that barked was allowed in the dining area.
Caesar salad very nice. Second course took way too long lobster ravioli usually excellent was just very good. Lamb chops 3 small ones $45 were fatty and cooked medium rare. I asked for medium. We like this place but last night was a bit disappointing Server brought a few butternut raviolis so so cause our main took 40 -50 minutes after salad. Also gave us comp dessert tiramisu average never of which we order or asked for. Made up a little
First time visit and will definitely be returning. Although my pasta dish had some stuck-together pappardelle, the food quality and selection was very good. Service was excellent. Met quite a few first time customers enjoying the food and ambience. They have a large outdoor seating area with some live music on a Saturday night. We will bring some friends on our next visit,
Had a very nice lunch at La Nuova the other day. The food and service were very good, so we do plan on trying the restaurant for dinner sometime. The place was pretty empty, but it was a Monday at lunch.
Yummy food. Nice outdoor ambience.
Fantastic service and excellent food.

Best Italian food I've had in years There was a cold draft that kept coming in from the kitchen on our legs I don't normally complain but we loved this food and want to go back again soon but this draft was awful because it was cold out

Christmas Eve dinner flop! Shoved in a freezing cold corner outside with minimal heat. Waited over an hour for our food to come. Finally a bowl of so called minestrone soup came - this was watery tomato sauce with squash and zucchini added. The waiter said he was going to hunt down the Brussel sprouts so that’s when we decided to get up and leave. Nobody stopped us, they didn’t really care. Merry Christmas ?
Previous doesn't have any option to write. when we went to the place they were closing. I drove all they to try out the food. even they didn't even listen. we left. request to opentable please inform so we don't waste our time and gas to drive 35 mile one way.
We recently dined at this restaurant and found it delightful in every way. Claudia, the manager, was gracious and welcoming and made our evening extra special. We sat on the patio, which was warm and comfortable with LOVELY live music on Friday's.The food here is excellent. My husband and I split a salad, so I'm not sure what another reviewer was talking about, but it was great! Main course was delish also. We will definitely return and bring friends!
This place is truly a diamond in the rough. Located in a nondescript neighborhood strip mall, it just looks like a local pizza place. However, when dinner time comes around and their patio lights up, it turns into a cozy little Italian restaurant. Not fancy, but thoughtfully decorated and perfect for quiet romantic dinner with your spouse or family dinners. The presentation of each dishes are sophisticated and far beyond what you would expect from a place like this. The food and service are both top notch. I've been here several times by now and every dish we've tried were just exceptional. The food compares well even against the far more expensive, top rated OC Italian restaurants. The butter cake is especially memorable.
Il Sole in San Juan Capistrano is fabulous! My husband and I eat out weekly, often two or three times a week, and we decided to try a new place near home. What a delightful find! Live music on Saturday nites, and I mean lovely dining music...like saxophone renditions of Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, Elton John...and classic melodies like Moon River...all added to the warm and lovely ambiance of this place. Service is prompt and efficient and servers are friendly. Claudia, the manager, is so welcoming and helpful. The food is outstanding and in generous portions. Their appetizer menu is excellent with so many good choices, we had difficulty making a decision. All in all, this restaurant delivers on all levels. We will definitely return and bring friends!
