Had dinner on Thursday Taco Night. My son and I had all but one of the items on the menu. The food here is always inventive and delicious. Tonight was no exception. Highlghts included Ahi Tuma Lavash Tostadas, fried eggplant tacos, Duck tacos, Avocado Hummas and Beef Tagine Quesadilla. Paired up with expertly made cocktails. Atmosphere is modern and light. Staff is welcoming, professional and enthusiastic about the food and your experience.
Mayfield is the best restaurant in south oc! Food and wine selection is insane. Staff is incredibly friendly!
I love the dips (all of them), the lamb shank, the fried chicken, the kabobs, the desert...it was all amazing and I'll be going back soon!
A lovely place for some shared plates and an excellent wine list. Head there for a night with friends or a night out with the lady. The staff is great and the food is better!
Mayfield is the best restaurant in all of OC !!! Must go! Get the rip and dip, sweet potatoes, the eggplant and then lamb shank!
Food and ambiance was ok. Food was interesting but trying too hard to be different. Dips were the best menu items. For the high price-point, I expect more premium food and a top notch environment. Don't think we'll be back.
The food is delicious and staff is wonderful. Unfortunately we have decided not to return due their choice to wade into politics. Why can't a restaurant just be a restaurant?!
Went for my husbands birthday on a Sunday evening. It was pretty quiet although they were very busy. Our waitress was very friendly and made some really great suggestions on food. My husband and I will definitely be going back!
This is one of my favorite restaurants. It's perfect for brunch, or dinner. I love they use high-quality ingredients and no seed oils. It has become one of my favorite go to places.
We rendezvoused with our relatives at the train depot, strolled the delightful cobbled streets and window-shopped before walking to the restaurant for our luncheon. We sat on the second-floor covered patio--since we were early for our reservation, we had the patio mostly to ourselves. Delightful experience, lovely ambience, delicious food, attentive service. I recommend the shared appetizer (5 dips with four pieces of challah). It's been awhile since I had such a lovely loaf of fresh challah, and the dips are amazing. My top two favorites were Baba Ghanoush and Muhammara, though I would add that this is probably the best hummus I've ever tasted. My selection was the Smoked Salmon & Poached Eggs, with perfectly poached eggs, though I was tempted to try the Shakshuka. Next time I'm in town? Five stars!

The dips are 10/10. Get them all. Loved the feta one specifically.

Food was delicious, we ordered the Supper Club (a fantastic value) and let the staff make our selections - everything was great. They have an interesting and moderately priced wine list (so refreshing in this county.) Since we weren't familiar we let the staff select two reds from Napa, both good values - one better than the other. Our favorite dishes were ALL the dips with Challah bread, the sweet potatoes, and the leeks, though everything tasted great, even the eggplant despite the (little too slimy for some guests) texture. The trout and mussels was sublime, the fried chicken was tasty but the ladies didn't like that it required eating with their fingers. The braised lamb shank was very tasty though a little intimidating. We tried all 4 desserts and the Chocolate Cremeux and the Bread pudding were far and away our faves tho again, everything was tasty. No off notes all night and the service was friendly and mostly timely. We had only one criticism for the whole meal and it's easy to resolve: the food came out WAY too fast. The Supper Club is a large meal and even with 6 of us attacking the dishes we couldn't keep up. We needed a chance to rest a little between all the dishes so we could appreciate the changing flavors of the delicious food. Halfway through the meal we were feeling force-fed and uncomfortably full and the last dishes were getting cold on the table. A criticism should include a suggestion so here it is: cut at least one dish from the supper club and time the dishes at a more relaxed pace, so they aren't all arriving so close together. It's a fabulous meal and value and we can't wait to come back but would like to make it a more leisurely experience.
Great atmosphere and a modern spin on Middle Eastern dishes! Everything tastes fresh. I have to say I do miss the pistachio tiramisu! Please bring it back. The chicken shishlik was perfect before they changed it to skewered chicken (it dries out the chicken now).
Love the food and usually the dining experience is fantastic. We had to sit downstairs due to two large parties upstairs (during the holiday season so not unusual). The accoustics make for a pretty loud atmosphere.... but the food was as great as ever. We will definitely be back... it is unique and excellent.
Mayfield is truly a gem in San Juan Capistrano. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm, cozy, and has a ton of fresh air flow. When the natural light sets in, Mayfield makes for the perfect place for a romantic date, a dinner with friends, or a place for families to enjoy. The staff is incredibly attentive and inviting, offering wine recommendations, food pairings, and simply providing that high quality service you would anticipate. The food was excellent. Highly recommended the bread + dips starter. With every bite, we kept trying to decide which dip was our favorite, all 5 are superb. The Grains Bowl provided that healthy, hearty, and delicious culinary experience we were hoping for. Can’t wait to return to Mayfield, as it’s probably my favorite restaurant we’ve visited this year.
