OMG maybe I should 1 star it to keep others away.
Ramos House Café is hands down one of the most charming spots in all of Orange County. Tucked right across from the train station in historic San Juan Capistrano, this place feels like a secret garden brunch haven. The outdoor setting is serene and rustic, with a relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger for hours.
The food? Incredible. The house-cured duck hash is next level, and the truffle parmesan fries are dangerously addictive. Don’t even get me started on the apple cider beignets. Pair everything with a mimosa or Bloody Mary and you’ve got perfection on a plate.
Service is warm, thoughtful, and never rushed. It’s the kind of place you want to keep to yourself…
So honestly? Stay away—let the locals enjoy it while it lasts. 😉
But if you must go, go hungry—and prepare to fall in love.
Oh my goodness, you won’t believe how amazing this place is! They make all their food in-house, and honestly, it’s a culinary masterpiece. The flavours blend together in the most incredible way, and the service is absolutely top-notch. But what really impressed me was when our server asked if we had any food allergies. When we told her, she went above and beyond to find us alternatives. It was such a thoughtful gesture! Beautiful atmosphere, and well worth the price!
Arrived just after 9 am, seated immediately. Lovely setting. Brunch was substantial and every bite delicious. Presentation was beautiful.
Dripping with charm, this quaint little restaurant sits in the heart of SJC and just steps aways from the train. The service was warm and welcoming and their brunch was spot on! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone
Very nice restaurant, had brunch here with friends. Very patient staff (we were catching up with friends which delayed us ordering some!). Nice outdoor, shaded seating as well. Nice menu with a variety of options. Good sparkling drinks as well!
Discovered Ramos House in the late 90s based on an OC Weekly (now defunct paper) review. I was enraptured by that meal--hush puppies, a bloody mary that really kicked off the viral stacked drink trend. All these years later, even under new ownership, the experience does not disappoint. The food is outstanding. The hair of the cat selections are as great as ever. And the setting--for those of you who love classic California vegetation--is just sublime. A feast for the palette as well as the senses. Love Ramos House. And I have dined all over the world.
Very good brunch spot in the walking street of San Juan Capistrano. The food is very good and pretty interesting, not your standard American brunch fare. Service is good and it's a cute little restaurant. Parking is a pain now that river street is open and there are so many people coming to the area.
What a charming little place! I really love the cozy atmosphere here. They have a great variety of menus, and everything looks and sounds so delicious. It's hard to believe we can't try it all in one trip! 😂😂😂 Our server, Ally, was super friendly and really helpful. I can't wait to come back and sample more of the tasty options on the menu!
Gorgeous, not too touristy, beautiful atmosphere in a mature garden and large trees for shade. I sat on the balcony which was nice for watching the world go by.
Reasonable prices, decent portions, what more can you ask for.
Amazing food through 20+ years of patronage. Wonderful setting, and the peach pain perdu was a standout!!! Great destination midway between San Diego and LA for catching up with friends over a leisurely brunch.

This place fires on all cylinders. The food, service and atmosphere are perfect for brunch. I had the salmon lox for a the starter and Mac n cheese for the main. She ordered the bignets and crab hash. (Sorry no pics) but this place is my favorite.

Delicious burritos and enchiladas. Speedy and friendly service, and reasonably priced. We will definitely eat there again if we travel through Douglas!

The pain perdu is life! So delicious. A few excellent vegetarian options: the heirloom tomato burrata crossing and the truffle Fava bean spread on toast were both super yummy.
