Tavern at the Mission

We had a very nice meal with good food on the patio. The server had a lot of tables but was great. There was live music, a solo guitarist, who was good but not so loud that we had to shout across the table. We will be back soon.

Everything was really nice despite the fact that they are no longer offering the 50% off for VIP members. They did give me a heads up by calling me about it prior to my arrival time, but it was still on the menu so if they're gonna start something like that They need to change the menu rather than telling people upon their arrival even though I did have a heads up. I won't be going there as often but everything was good. Service was great, but I'll miss the 50% off on Tuesday. 

This was our first time eating there and we had heard so many good things about this restaurant. It lived up to everything I had heard the food was outstanding! So flavorful and everything is so fresh. The waitress had great suggestions that did not disappoint. It is a beautiful little restaurant and they had live music and the fireplace outside going. I highly recommend!

My bf and I went with another couple Sunday night and were very pleased. Today I went alone for lunch; Betty and the busboy were very accommodating. Butternut squash soup is a favorite of mine, and theirs is a good one, with just the right amount of sweetness; the pipits are a great touch, and the cheese toast delicious.

Staff are friendly and accommodating. I erroneously made the Sunday brunch reservations for 4 instead of 6. No problem. My group ordered a variety of food. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the chicken and waffles. Nice ambiance. Live music was a nice touch. Elaine was our server and she was great! Highly recommend!

We had a great server and the food was good. It would be nice if they lit the fireplace on cool nights. Asked 2 different people but no one turned it on.

Food and drinks were excellent, but service is very very slow. Ordered two drinks and it took about 20 minutes to get them. The next drink we ordered was slow as well and she only brought one drink not two so I had to wait again for that drink. Great menu and wine list, would definitely go back, but they really need to work on their service. 

Upscale Tavern food enjoyed the lobster Lois salad. Definitely has the David Wilhelm touch. Similar vibe to what he's brought to so many great OC establishments. Definitely going back..

Had a cowboy burger, fish and chips, and clam chowder and can say they are quite good. Atmosphere is nice and not too loud where you can’t talk to people in your table.
Only reason the restaurant is getting 3 stars is because of our drink experience and follow up. One of our drinks came with a partly moldy strawberry. The waiter apologized and took it away as soon as I let her know. I was surprised the manager or bartender didn’t come over to check in after that.

Very romantic setting in the heart of San Juan. You have a choice to sit at the bar, indoors, OR at the patio. I chose the latter, because the weather was very nice. The spacious patio was very warm and welcoming, equipped with live music, at least when I was there. I got straight to the point and wanted the 18 Oz boneless ribeye. It was phenomenally seasoned to perfection, topped with spicy butter, and finished off with crispy onions. Sides include cheese gratin, which I substituted for extra green beans. The service was very fast and they go above and beyond. I am definitely coming back here again.

Had lunch here and Bettie was our server. She was wonderfully friendly and made great suggestions. Don’t lose her as she’s a perfect representative for your restaurant. We enjoyed our food, the relaxed atmosphere and great reception from the manager as well. Will be coming back for sure.

Excellent food and drinks! We had a family birthday event and the arrangement was perfect and well thought out by the staff—enjoyed by all guests of four generations!. Although it was busy, the servers were very friendly and attentive to our many requests.

I made reservations on OpenTable to celebrate the 75th birthday of a close friend at this restaurant, which was her favorite. I specifically made reservations for the patio which is the most popular space at the restaurant, 9 days before. I confirmed these reservations twice - by text and email the day before . Less than 2 hours prior to our reservation time, I received a call from the restaurant saying that our reservation for the patio was no longer available because some party has “bought out” the entire patio. I have never had this experience before. I told them that our event was as special to us as it was to the party that ”bought out” the patio was to them . I also noted that if the reservation to buy out the patio had happened prior to my reservation being made on 7/17, why was their patio seating shown as still available? If it hadn’t been available, I would have made reservations elsewhere. I also objected to being contacted on such short notice which didn’t allow us time to easily make other arrangements, particularly since our other party was traveling a distance to attend the lunch. Jennifer, the manager called me. She was argumentative, wouldn’t listen to my concerns, talked over me and was insensitive to our predicament. She lacks a basic understanding of customer service. She was in an untenable position (the restaurant screwed up)but chose to lash out at the customer instead of apologizing or taking responsibility for this situation. I hung up on her after telling her this was unprofessional and disrespectful to their customers. I’m sure there is a backstory to this situation which I’ll never be privy to. We will never go to this restaurant again. Neither will my friends. This was a breach of trust, ineptitude and horrible customer service.
