AOI Teriyaki & Ramen

Love supporting small businesses. First time trying it today and ordered to go. It's a small space, you order through a kiosk or through the owner/chef. Needless to say, was really impressed with the ramen and the broth. My son and I ordered The Tonkatsu and my wife ordered the champon. Even for to go the portion is really good, really great to have a good ramen place 5 mins from our place.

Been here quite a few times now and everything is always amazing. Highly recommend if you enjoy a good bowl of ramen and the Katsu is fantastic as well.

Delicious chicken katsu box!

After spending three months in Japan tonkatsu and katsu became an instant favorite. This meal transported me back to time there.

The chicken was breaded and fried perfectly. I enjoyed the sesame ball and gyoza as well. The portion is very generous and quite affordable for the amount of food you get.

Support this awesome local business. The food is good and I look forward to trying the ramen as the weather gets colder.

Small spot, so dishes will take a bit if there’s a line. Kiosk for ordering and one man ramen shop. Service is worth it, he will let you know before you order if it will take more than 30min.

Really really good. Slightly under $15 for a bowl that you probably won’t finish. Owner makes it by himself so it takes a little bit but super fresh and big portions!

Passing through and I'm so glad we gave this place a try. Yes, this place is very good and authentic. Yes, I have been to Japan, twice in the last 8 months. This place is legit! I highly recommend this place!

It's hard to find great ramen but AOI is the best I've found so far and I've been looking for about 10 years.
Piping hot, biggest bowl around, and very good noodles.

A hidden gem of San Leandro! My wife came across a subreddit talking about this place. We were watching NHK and people serving ramen and champon in a small "yatai" (shop stand) and we decided to order. Their menu selection is minimal but the food is amazing! The generous serving and good quality food is topnotch. We had the spicy tonkotsu ramen, black tonkotsu ramen and the chicken katsu. We were so stuffed. The following day we ordered again and had the seafood champon as I was curious if this soup is similar with Korean jjampong. I love the wok taste of the veggies and the broth is rich. If you are looking for an affordable yet great Japanese food, this is the place to go. I highly recommend!

I wanted to try the ramen that I see on every single series in Netflix. I went to the San Leandro and find this restaurant: The food is amazing and incredibly delicious. It might take a bit longer than other restaurants but it’s worth it. I got the black ramen. It was so good it is big amount and it’s only 15 bucks. If you like a lot of noodles, I recommend you to order extra because it’s not that much of noodle, besides that, I don’t really eat to much noodle so it’s a good amount for me. Try it, it’s really tasty. I finish mine!?‍♀️

The place small and the menu is self service but the good is great and pricing isn't bad for the amount of food you get. Besides the Ramen & potatoe croquettes, I've also had the chicken katsu and I've enjoyed it all.

This is probably some of the best, if not the best, ramen I have ever had!!
I got the black garlic tonkotsu. The flavors were strong, yet delicately balanced so as to not be overwhelming. The portion sizes are also pretty big for what you pay for! 10/10 would eat here again!

It's just a small 15-20 seater shop and seems to be a 1 man operation. Because of this you may have a little bit of a wait for your food, but it's well worth it.

Overall the atmosphere is very casual, with Japanese pop music playing, which is kind of fun.
The shop also looks to be fairly clean as well!
This will be a new frequent stop of mine!
