This place is really cute. I was very impressed with how clean it was. The car ride home smelled so good! Unfortunately it wasn't for us. The sweet and sour chicken, the sweet and sour sauce is good. The chicken was over cooked and besides the flavor the sauce was dry. Same for the general chicken. Dry chicken and overall dry even with the sauce. But the flavor was so bad. It tasted like salt and pepper, and too much of both. The chow fun wasnt what I expected, thats my fault, I thought it was angel hair noodles. We werent a fan of them, but this could be specific to us. The noodles where the last thing we ate. I think the heat from them being in the box longer caused them to be overcooked. They were a bit soggy and stuck together in clumps. The flavor wasnt the worst but it wasnt good either. The crab wonton were also a no. My Daughter complained a lot about no filling inside just a thin swipe. Should be noted that we're from IL where food standards are higher. Overall food is too expensive these days for it not to be great. This meal that we really couldn't eat and won't touch the leftovers came in just under $57.

Let’s be honest about JL Kitchen: you’re not coming here for gourmet food. You’re coming for some serious Chinese comfort food, at good value. What you get are amazing portion sizes of very tasty and basic American Chinese fares. Sometimes that’s exactly what the doc… I mean chef, ordered!

This place sells the best rice with shrimp. It's my favorite place when it comes to eating rice. The workers are friendly. I highly recommend this place. It's not expensive. I paid less than $20 for my food.

Ordered from GrubHub tonight - The food from here was disgusting. The egg drop soup had what looked like a soft boiled egg dropped into it. The Mongolian beef was spilled both in the bag and had leaked out of it. It didn't taste great and for something with chili peppers in it had zero spice. The chicken wings were over fried and tasted like they'd been fried in old oil. I threw out the egg drop soup and the chicken wings. The Sizzling Rice Soup was tasty. Given that this was the only thing I really enjoyed I would not order from here again.
Goos food for good price with friendly staff.

Things have changed a lot at JL over the past 15 years I’ve been going there, including an updated menu and of course pricing.
In spite of inflation, their prices are still very reasonable especially the lunch specials. Taste and quality have improved dramatically for a joint like this.
Inside the dine in options are limited — just a few small tables usually 1 or 2 people in a rush. Most of us take to go.
Which is fine by me, cos it’s good portions, parking is easy in their small lot, the guy at the counter is super nice, and price and taste are good enough especially for lunch. Love it!
Staff provided a warm greeting when I walked in. Food was ready and nicely packaged when I arrived. So well packed that my driving toppled the soup over in car and it stayed sealed!
They included a hot chili oil with the soup as well! woohoo!
I ordered takeout but I would like to come back and eat in person. Seems like the staff are very attentive in this small restaurant. Glad my search brought me here - I've been driving by for the past few years not knowing there was good food close by.
for $80.00 the food sucked, it was microwaved and just shitty.. never going back

The food here is normally good, but I had bought some fried rice from here about 2 weeks ago and the rice was herd. I don't like hard fried rice, I like fried rice.
