A nice local Mediterranean style restaurant with good food, very friendly service and inviting atmosphere.

Mediterranean is often used to describe a wide range of regional cuisines. Moussaka has interesting and delicious variations on dishes we have had before. We ordered the Manti Turkish dumplings in a very good yogurt sauce and the Roasted Dolmades baked in a tomato sauce which was delicious but could have used additional spices.

Excellent food, be sure to call for reservations, it gets busy! Comfort food , amazing baba ganoush. The lamb shank is delicious with couscous or egg plant. You will not be disappointed! Be sure to try the rice pilaf, we order extra. Love the octopus appetizer and the flaming cheese is a restaurant production! The owner is a dessert chef, save room for an array of tasty sweet treats, or come just for the desserts.

I was working in the area and after not finding anything appealing in the Safeway near by I immediately searched for food nearby. Moussaka was the closest place that entertained the thought of eating a good meal. when I walked in immediately I felt out of place due to my work attire., even though I felt dirty due to my work clothes I was treated with respect. after looking through the menu Hunkar Beyendi was my choice of meal and what a great choice. The server was very friendly and polite, she mentioned that it was one of the best meals they had and she was right. the lamb was cooked very well and the sauce had a wonderful touch not to mention the bed of eggplant with cheese all together tickled my taste buds to a pleasant satisfaction. If I hadn't been still on the clock I would've loved to have a glass of cabernet I know that would've been the icing on the cake. maybe next time when my attire is more casual. thank for the wonderful food and service

I'm not usually a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine, but they had items on the menu I really enjoyed and they were very tasty! I chose the beef tenderloin kabobs and you can mix two different proteins that are available. Our table shared the crispy brussel sprouts and I should've ordered another one. So GOOD! Also, the staff was so friendly, helpful and patient. But the real star of this restaurant is the bakery!! The tiramisu was so light and delicious and so was the lemon tart. (I nabbed the last one of the night!) This restaurant is a true gem in San Leandro!!!

I came into the restaurant just to check it out because my wife loves Mediterranean food. I was greeted at the entrance by Nile the owner. We seemed to have talked for hours about life, but it was probably about an hour. It was a wonderful experience to meet Nile. She is a really awesome, loving, and caring person. I ended our conversation by telling Nile I was going to get my wife and return to the restaurant. Long story short, we were greeted by Nile and her wife. We ordered falafel, baba ghanoush, and a mango milk cake, and it was the best Mediterranean food I have tasted in my life. I loved everything I ate. Also, my wife loved everything she at. Nile was so such a sweetheart. My wife mentioned moussaka and Nile gave her some to try. Food: excellent. Customer service: excellent. Ambience: excellent. Needless to say we will be returning again. Special thanks to Nile for such an awesome experience.

We had a great evening celebrating Mother’s Day early with authentic Turkish food and hospitality. The food was delicious and well portioned. We walked out with a few to-go boxes. Our server (didn’t catch her name!) was great, friendly and attentive. The desserts, tea and coffee were also spot on. Having been divided up north near Sac and in Bay Area we’re always trying to find a good spot in the middle to meet as a family. Tonight was a hit! Thank you to Nil for her hospitality and positive energy. My son kept saying “Turkish people are so nice.” And Nil next time we’ll speak Turkish from the beginning 🙂

We had the pleasure of hosting our cousin Jill’s (and Kisa’s) pre-wedding welcome dinner for 25 of us on Friday, April 25, 2925. We worked with Nile (owner and head chef) on the menu. The food was super tasty, service outstanding and the desserts! Desserts to die for !! The price was super reasonable and all of us went home singing Moussaka’s praises . We love this place and highly recommend it for any meal at any time of day !

I recently had the pleasure of trying several dishes, including the Dolmades, falafel balls, Chicken Shashlik, Salmon, and prawns.

I especially enjoyed the chicken and rice, which were incredibly delicious and fresh. The flavors were both familiar, reminiscent of Mediterranean cuisine, and yet uniquely distinct to your establishment.

Overall, the meal was delightful. My only hesitation was with the prawns, as they weren't thoroughly cleaned—the veins were still visible so I left those on the plate.
