One of the best fried chicken in a long time. It looks dry but there's a lot of juice and flavor once you get into it. If it was delivered I don't think it would taste as good. The fried cod was good but not great because it wasn't juicy or buttery soft. The cornbread sides were yummy. The Mac and cheese was cheeeeesy and thick and medium spicy. Collard greens were normal. Green beans were sweet and yummy. Fries were normal fries.I asked for tap water since I didn't want a drink and the server looked surprised (and partly disgusted because I wanted faucet water?) and asked if I wanted bottled water instead. I said sure so we could end the conversation and didn't see the charge on the final receipt. I wasn't sure if the server forgot to add it or bottled water is free. Overall not a complaint but if you want to avoid drink confusion, either don't order water or bring your own lol

The owner was so welcoming. The food was cooked perfectly ??. I had the smothered chicken, rice gravy and greens. They let me try a fried chicken strip that was so moist and breaded to perfection!

It is a little quaint place with delicious food. We had the fried catfish, rice w/ gravy and fried cabbage. The fish was made to order, so it came out perfect. The meal was so good we had to try the dessert.... to be continued!!!

It was my birthday, and I wanted some good, down home soul food. Gave these wonderful people a shot, and I'm so glad I did! First of all, it's a little hole-in-the-wall place adjacent to the Safeway parking lot, which is THE BEST type of restaurant in my opinion. You walk in the door, and it smells like real, down home soul food. For a second, I thought my mother was still alive! The food? Oh my, let me tell you about the food. I ordered the chicken strips with collards, and fries. THE COLLARDS!! It is worth going there for the collards, alone!! Everything else was equally fabulous. The chicken was authentically "soul food". Season perfectly, as opposed to the overseasoning many chicken places employ. My partner got the chicken as well and also loved it! However, my partner got the jalapeno Mac and cheese and the garlic mashed potatoes as sides. Let me tell you: I HATE Mac and Cheese!! However, THIS Mac and Cheese was insanely good, and I'll order it for myself next time. The garlic mashed potatoes? Just stop. There was so much flavor, between those two sides, that I ended up eating some of my partner's sides, as well! But wait!! I forgot about the cornbread!! It was moist yet flakey, and simply delicious. (my only gripe, here, is that the portion is a little small. Or, maybe that's just a "me" thing.) Knowing it was my birthday, these lovely ladies gave me a slice of their banana cream cake. Oh. My. At the end of all that, we were both so deliciously full, we both passed out! It was a wonderful birthday, and a great new experience. It was exactly what I was looking for and will definitely become a regular.

OMG. THIS LIL GEM OF A PLACE! I have driven by the place so many times and never noticed it. First timer here. I ordered cat fish and grilled turkey chops and for dessert, yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Yasssssss. Well seasoned, tasty and flaky. The spicy mac and cheese...ummmm ummmm good. I will definitely patronize this establishment again real soon. Thanks ladies for a delicious dinner.

The food here is good however, if you have heart condition, high blood pressure problems or anything of that nature this place isn't for you... The food is pretty SALTY. The cook has a very heavy hand with the seasoning. I had red snapper, garlic potatoes and greens.. the snapper and greens were salty?? as hell.?

This s the best fresh soul food in the bay area Your food is cooked to order. The owner has no problem letting you taste the gumbo. It is worth the trip to San Leandro.

It was so delicious, I’ve never had better soul food! It was amazing when it was served and just as good as leftovers. The jalapeño cream cheese Mac and cheese was absolutely to die for!

Best Soul Food I've had sense moving to California. The staff are super friendly as well. Just like going to Grandma's Sunday Dinner for some good ol Southern cooking. So good we came back the next night.

So good. This is definitely a soul food treat/cheat meal. I have NEVER had red snapper, potato salad, or green beans taste this good. Perfectly fried and seasoned. You're gonna be in a food coma afterwards but it's so worth it. The owner is the sweetest. I usually get it to go and it's always well packed and vented so your crisp stays crispy. The owner has the small inside space decorated cute and available for dine in. Always call before you go to make sure they're open and it's cash only.
