Top Hatters Kitchen and Bar

Top Hatters is one of our favorite local neighborhood gems, and it never disappoints! The Madras curry with farm vegetables was a new dish for us, and it was very tasty. An old favorite is the muscles in green curry broth - absolutely amazing! (We probably should have asked for bowls because both of these dishes are very saucy). We almost always start with the mushroom hemp pate, which is accompanied by three different pickled vegetables, varying by season - today they were cauliflower, beets and kabocha squash. The rice vermicelli noodles with grilled galangal pork is also one of our go-tos. You really can't go wrong with anything! Creative, inventive original dishes that are pleasing to both the eye and the palate!

super on everything but we had made reservations for inside seating; when we arrived, no room was available inside so we had to dine outside in the cold..one person was elderly with two recent knee replacements, using a walker. it was oh so difficult for her to eat in the cold even though heaters were provided. also. bathroom needs grab bars for folks with disabilities.. we will come backddddddddd - but hope our concerns will be addressed.

I love Top Hatters Kitchen & Bar! From the creative seasonal bar menu to the fresh variety of entrees, this is one of my absolute favorite places to eat & support.

This would have been a 5-star review except for the exceptionally high noise level (inside seating) and the online ordering via the use of the Bar Code displayed prominently on each table. This proved to be very difficult to use for the purpose of ordering our meals. We ended up asking for paper menus.

First visit and it won't be our last. Beautiful, bright restaurant with ample outdoor seating. Order via QR code or waiter. Large drink selection with some creative cocktails. We ordered the Halibut Tartare, Savory Bacon Donuts, Pork Dumplings, Grilled Meat Platter (Lemongrass Pork, Beef Short Rib). Too full for dessert. Everything was tasty and came out at a perfect pace. Would definitely order the Halibut and Pork Dumplings again.

This was my first time at Top Hatters and it won't be the last. The food was excellent. All fresh ingredients and imaginative dishes. I highly recommend.

I absolutely love coming to Top Hatters whenever I can. I love bringing new people to the restaurant so they can become a fan as well. The food is consistent in flavor and appeal, even when the menu options change. Great spot for date night as well.

I ordered the following:

Banh Mi with hoi-an style sauce (with viet pork ham & pate). Served on a house-made baguette that was toasty on the outside and tender on the inside. Very little flavour to the ham/pate, though. My dining partner had the grilled lemongrass chicken and raved about it. I will get that next time. With a different protein my sandwich would have been spectacular.

Farm box chocked full of seasonal vegetables and fruits with three flavorful spreads. Fresh and delicious. The tomatoes and figs were standouts for me. Big enough to share.

Savory donuts with scallions, bacon and shaved parmesan. Delicious. A bit of a crunch on the outside with a nice tender crumb on the inside. Thumbs up.

Lemon Ricotta Donuts with a spiced apple dipping sauce. I like the donut, but the spiced apple dipping sauce was the star. It added the right amount of tartness and sweetness to the donut. The donut itself wasn't overly sweet, which I liked.

We dined in the courtyard, which was a very pleasant experience.

I will definitely return.

Vegetarian options: The farm box is all veggies and fruits. The Banh Mi has crispy tofu as a protein option. I really want to try that. Also, there are other vegetarian options available.

Parking: We came for late lunch on a Wednesday, missing the lunch crowd. Parked right in front of the restaurant.

My family and I went here on a Sunday, so we got the weekend menu. My favorites among appetizers and entrees we ordered are: Grilled Galangal pork skewer, Pork Belly with peasant rice, Rice Vermicelli bowl, Grilled Chipolata. They have unique blend of spices and seasoning. Best of all, they are a fusion of different tastes from different countries… It satisfies your taste buds without making your stomach feel too full/ heavy… that’s what I like… Cory, our server, as well as the other servers are all nice and friendly. The place has a relaxing atmosphere… they have big clear glass windows at the front, so the place gets lit by natural lighting from outside… the place is also decorated with beautiful plants… they also have patio at the front… I give 5 stars for this restaurant… Thank you Top Hatters ?

Outstanding food! This was my first visit and I will be back frequently. Cocktails were masterfully crafted with a blend of juices and spices I've never encountered. Each dish was truly unique. The rock fish was grilled to perfection. The accompanying sauces were tangy and fresh. My party of three were in full agreement. This is one of the best meals we've had in the Bay Area.

This is our second time coming to Top Hatter. Service and food did not disappoint. We shared all our dishes and it was more than plenty. The meat platter was amazing. All donuts, savory and sweet, hit the spot! There was an amazing pork dumpling that blew our minds!! It was so good the server came straight to us to recommend it and we are so glad we did. I look forward to our next visit!!

A little gem from n San Leandro. Dishes are delicious and so flavorful and the service is friendly and great! I love the dining atmosphere. The outdoor eating area is so cozy and the indoor area is chic. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the East Bay!
