This is my absolute favorite BBQ in town! Portion sizes could be better, but sooo delicious! The baby back ribs fall off the bone!! And I’m obsessed with all their sides, especially the chili beans. Tip: ask for the spicy BBQ sauce.

Everyone always talks about Firestone and Old SLO, but CJ's is by far the BEST bbq slo has to offer!! We got the baby back ribs, fried catfish, potato skins, and onion rings. All were a solid 11/10. The ribs melted off the bone and the catfish was seasoned so well. Onion rings were the best ones I've had in a long time. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving BBQ.

It was super hot inside the restaurant and was uncomfortable to sit down and eat. We did sit down tho bc I needed to rest a bit. Hostess told us that all the customers complain about how hot it is in there. There is no fan and no AC. We ordered the baby back ribs and they were tender and bbq sauce was good but there was a flavor of the lighter fluid on the meat. 🍖 the Mac n cheese was hella dry and not good at all. Worst Mac n cheese ever. Yams were decent but served too hot. Overall, it’s aight. Wouldn’t return.
Amazing bbq and great service. Had the beef ribs, hot links, and pulled pork. After seeing their Thursday booth we decided to find the restaurant to sit down and enjoy along with a beer. Could not be happier with the staff and food quality, even the sides slapped, BBQ beans and slaw matched perfectly with the pork and beef ribs. Will definitely be back!

The best bbq we’ve had around the area! My party all enjoyed their food. I had CJ bbq burger, it was delicious. I normally don’t ever finish my food. Had every bit of it. DELICIOUS AND A MUST TRY IF YOU'RE IN THE AREA.

We were greeted warmly and welcomed to sit anywhere we wanted. Our server was friendly and efficient. I got the two meat plate with baby back ribs & a beef rib. The texture for both ribs was just right. Very impressive. I also loved the candied yams. I will definitely eat here again.

Everything was great. The server and manager were on top of things and friendly, the food tasted great, and the blues music was a nice backdrop to this Texas smokehouse. When it comes to sides, the fries and candied yams were our tables favorite. The cornbread can feed a family of four, so be ready for a Texas sized serving if you go that route.

After visiting again for the gumbo I was even more disappointed. $30 for a bowl of gumbo and there were three tiny crab knuckles. Are you kidding me?!
Update:
They added some lunch specials, decent price for a sandwich and their fries are still good.
The gumbo (or whatever the soup was) was good, but really doesn't need king crab. If it didn't have king crab and was maybe a third less in price I'd get it regularly. It also had some shrimp shells left the soup which is something to fix I guess.
Old:
This place was expensive and had mediocre food. The pulled pork sandwich had some of the driest pulled pork I've ever tasted and cost $20?! At least the fries were good...
The pork ribs tasted fine, but half of them didn't even fall off the bone. Really it was just the BBQ sauce carrying the dish. The sides were awful, the mac and cheese was totally broken up and the collard greens tasted like they'd been sitting in plain water for a day. $28 for just pork ribs though?
I think they've got a lot to figure out and the prices need to come down. This is a BBQ place with the same atmosphere as Mo's before it, not a nice sit down restaurant.

Honestly the best BBQ and sauce I've ever had! The beef ribs were super juicy and tender. The BBQ sauce is thick, sticky, sweet, delicious, amazing, omg. The 2 sides I had were great, and they have HUSH PUPPIES!! Will be back often! 10/10
