Working around the corner last week, I decided to pop in for lunch. I only get 30 min so time is of the essence. I was greeted with a smile immediately, seated and drink order taken. Once my lunch order was taken it took literally 5 min to receive it-this is what I call top service. The place was remarkably clean, staff was super friendly and great, and to top if off, I was out of there within 20 min. I have trouble with consistency with this location, (specifically in SLO ' CA , on Madonna rd). It is wheelchair accessible and has food made in record breaking time every visit. The only downsides to location are the services provided differently depending upon the staff who are taking/ handling your food / drink orders! If I leave bacon it had to be pretty bad. The eggs, hasbrowns and sourdough toast were good, but the bacon, I did order it crispy, was very thin and had almost no flavor. The strawberry jam was also tasteless and was more like a jelly. My companions birthday cake pancakes and bacon were mostly left behind, by a child that likes pancakes and bacon. Based on the reviews, Denny’s Restaurant on Madonna in San Luis Obispo offers excellent service and good food. The restaurant is always clean and well taken care of, even at any hour of the day or night. Employees like Dana and Angel are very friendly, helpful, and professional, providing excellent service. One waitress went the extra mile to get an order the way it was wanted. However, some service issues were noted, such as not getting checked on or receiving refills. The revised menu has huge portions that are very satisfying. Specific meals mentioned include the Grand Slamwich, which had everything breakfast items in it and was bigger than expected, and the French Crepes with vanilla cream and powdered sugar, which were a little too sweet. The SLAMMIN' strawberry soda was accidentally given as the strawberry sparkler, which was less sweet and more flavorful. The BROWNIE SUNDAE was a standout, served hot with vanilla ice cream and OREO cookie pieces, and tasted amazing. The difference between the bargain Super Slam and the traditional Grand Slam on the full menu is huge, with less food for more money.
