My wife and I attended a "pairing event" at the winery hosted by Kathryn's Kuisine.
This is a very small family owned winery that is well worth the visit. They prefer tastings by appointment, as we were told. The grounds are well kept, and the vines are in walking distance. We had the pleasure of meeting with the Matriarch and co-founder. she was a delight, and leaves you with a wonderful story of how the winery was founded and its future.
The food pairing was a wonderful take on the different flavors of each wine. I am not a wine drinker, but I enjoyed myself, and we left with two bottles of their wine. A wine club membership may soon be in the near future.
I would highly recommend a visit.
the best Lagrein wine in the United States
The winery is located 3 mi from the San Luis Obispo airport so it is a great place to stop when you get in from your flight. Reservations required. Gorgeous outdoor setting. Amazing wines. One of the best Lagreins I have ever had. Knowledgeable and personable wine host. Both the owner and the winemaker were on site to chat, which is always nice. All in all a great experience. Highly recommend.
This winery is a hidden gem. I highly recommend making a reservation and experiencing it for yourself.
There is so much history in the valley and Piedra Creek is one of the early few (they've been around for over 40 years!). Not only do you get to drink the wine, but learn about the history of the valley and the winery, farming and winemaking.
Their signature Lagrein is something special and unlike anything I've had before. They have some killer pinots and a phenomenal grenache and syrah and few wines as well. Their newest release, San Floriano, was just bottled and promises to be something beautiful.
The owners and tasting room manager are very knowledgeable and the absolute best.
I just cannot get enough of Piedra Creek!
What a wonderful winery. I recommend joining their wine ? ? club & when possible, make a visit to this winery. What a wonderful trip and adventure awaits you
Wines are decent, and the tasting experience was fun, but giving 1 star because I joined the wine club, they charged my card, did not ship the wine, and won't respond to calls or emails to resolve. So, beware of joining their wine club.
Last week, we visited and tasted at Piedra Creek, my 4th visit. It's an excellent visit, I brought my best friend Debbie this time, she's a fairly new winery business owner too, in Amador County. The wine was excellent, the tasting experience, and the hospitality of TJ and his grandmother and original owner Margaret. It's my favorite place for the experience and TJ and Margaret. We first visited just as live scheduled visits were permitted as businesses started to reopen post-pandemic. We had wonderful hospitable tasting and enjoyed the history of the winery. We LOVED the wine, most of it hearty reds, and normally I'm not a red fan. The heady Zinfandel and Legrein, Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir Blanc and a wonderful rose, plus a run not currently available of sparking rose. There have been other special blends. Pinot Noir is not usually a favorite for me either, but I love it here and the Pinot Noir Blanc is my #1 favorite. We joined the wine club too.Wine vines are in their full green glory right now! This is a small family run vineyard with an outdoor tasting area. We originally tasted on the back patio. It's by appointment only. They will accommodate you in most cases! Craig manages tastings now, he's knowledgeable and a good addition too.Thank you for a wonderful authentic friendly experience, this time and every time.
Amazing experience! Very intimate with great old world type wines. I loved their flight.
Just amazing! My sister and I came here for her birthday and it was wonderful. Delicious wine and Chris made us feel at home! He was also so knowledgeable. It was our first stop for our wineries and definitely our favorite.
Excellent local wine tasting experience. Location, venue, and wine super. Being hosted by Chris super duper! He is an entertaining wealth of Vineyard knowledge. Made us feel like we were visiting a friend's home to catch up and sip wine in their "shop".Pilot Noir- money!

Piedra Creek Winery was exactly the intimate experience we were looking for. Good wine with a story about how it all began. Chris made us feel welcome and provided a strong education of the wines and grapes. The headliner was meeting the matriarch, Margaret, who added to the stories in an engaging way. She is fun and someone you want meet. ???? personable experience. We will return.
Very personable! Great wine!
Really nice winery!!
Amazing wines, informative staff Chris and a magical setting! Can't wait to go back.
An amazing experience! The tasting room is intimate and picturesque, and the wines are all delicious. I especially loved the Lagrein and Pino Noir Blanc wines and all of the others were enjoyable too. The best part of the visit was meeting the family who runs the winery, hearing their stories, and learning about how the wine is made. Can't wait to come back!
