Philly Frank's Steaks

So there’s a chance that my order was a fluke and not the norm bc it looked nothing like majority of these posts. I’ve always loved this place and was heartbroken with my last order. I retracted my bad review and am giving the benefit of the doubt until I try again.

Terrible.

Being from the Northeast I love me a good cheese steak.
Had high hopes when I saw this business's listing.

Ordered the works with provolone and whiz.

Gave me cold whiz on the side and said they cant put it on the sub because it will rip. What??

Opened the parchment paper around the sub and had a heaping of grease pour all over me.

Nearly all the cheese in the sub was stuck to the paper.

Bread was hard.

Raw onions when I ordered cooked.

What gives? I'm hoping this was just an isolated incident there's no way others are leaving positive reviews with this quality I received.

I didn't expect Philly quality in SD but I genuinely could have gotten better at Subway.

$20 down the drain.

Had a steak n cheese , flavor was good just the meat was a little ovr fine chopped for my taste. I know ppl will say that's how its supposed to be but this was beyond that. Definitely will go back and try cple other sandwiches for sure

Nothing spectacular the cheesesteak meat was seasoned well meat was good my issue with the cheesesteak was the amoroso roll was not toasted at all a toastie roll would have made a good cheesesteak great it was just to much bread took away from the meat I also got the cheese french fries I prefer a fatter frie but that's just personal so not judging that the cheese fries left a weird after taste don't know if oil was old or what but ehhh I have been wanting to try this place foe a long time and I was not wowed nothing special

New go-to spot! The food is amazing! The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Stopped in to get an Italian hoagie after I had ordered a cheesesteak last night through GrubHub. From the first bite I was transported back to the Delaware valley! This place is 100% legit and a must for any Philly area transplant. Bsome of the best I have had outside of the Delaware valley. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back!

They def official! If you're a true Philly native out here in Cali.. this prob the ONLY spot here in S.Cal that serves Real Philly Original Cheesesteaks w/ Amoroso Roll. Stop playing. Philly memorabilia all over the walls, soon as I walked in, I felt at home. I knew for a fact I was about to get a real Philly Cheesesteak made by true Philadelphians. Thanks Franks!!

Great food. Go birds

Yo!! First time being there i work down the street. I've been looking for some great food in the area and these guys do not disappoint. I got the works with the little extra cheese whiz on the side it's perfect the meat the bread the veggies I like that they use both provolone and cheddar which I asked for in addition to the Whiz. Excellent Philly cheesesteak. Thanks again guys.

Philly Franks Steaks Carlsbad, CA Got the burger. Not sure what the bread was. It was slightly chewy like a pretzel bun but reminiscent of a decent cheese steak roll. Doesn't really work for the burger itself. The meat wasn't seasoned. The grilled onions had great carmelization. Tasted like Visalia onions, which I think they used for their onion rings (definitely get those). The fries were horrible, unseasoned, soggy. Good thing I got a side of wiz for them. Back to the burger: their secret sauce had a very strong garlic flavor, but tasted like it was seasoned with Mccormick garlic salt. Burger did not blow me away. I would like to try their line of cheese steaks, but if they use their secret sauce on them, then not really. I would give this burger a 2 out of 5. Really not impressed and they should probably just stick to their cheese steaks.

Lovely place, people, and food! Love being in a place surrounded with Eagles gear!

Recipe and flavors have stayed consistent over the years, little better than fast food but quantity tanked. For $15 you get a few ounces of food
