Literally the meanest owner/cashier I've ever encountered. I ordered one taco and when asked for 1 extra salsa I was scolded for asking for one extra salsa because I had ordered only one taco. I gave her back the extra salsa and threw out the taco. No wonder this place has horrible reviews.

Great find and my new favorite Mexican restaurant in San Mateo! I love that they are open late and have extremely fast service. I ordered the taco plate with carne asada to go. I was delighted to find that they packed chips and salsa for my to-go order. The carne asada was very flavorful. Their Mexican rice is good too. Wasn't a fan of the beans but that very well could just be me. Horchata was VERY sweet. I'll be returning!

Love this place! It’s so authentic and the lengua is amazing. It’s soft and spicy and addictive!

This place is amazing! I have been coming here for the past year, and from what I've tried, I'd take it over the places in the Mission. A wide menu selection offering tons of meat options that you can't find at every Mexican restaurant (pastor, lengua, chili verde pork) and the carnitas are the best I've had anywhere. . The tacos and burritos are great. The nachos are really solid, and the enchiladas are good too–it's hard to find a fast Mexican option that makes a good enchilada. I don't know how this place doesn't have 5 stars!

So coming here was more of a test of how good reviews by ELITE yelpers are. 5/5 from an Elite yelp review basically translates to 3/5 for me. We came here late at night and they had timely service. That was good. The restaurant looked reasonably clean though a table outside next to the restaurant was left uncleaned for at least 30 minutes. Was this to discourage people from sitting outside? Or maybe they just don't care? Or maybe they forgot about it? I don't know, but I appreciate it when restaurants are proactive about cleaning the tables and not letting leftover food sit out for the flies. I was dismayed by the reviews online...but there was a Yelp elite who gave this a seal of approval! We ordered fish tacos which had a good sauce. I could taste the white fish and it was O.K. It wasn't the best fish tacos I have ever had, but it was O.K. I could see myself ordering that again. Then I had an al pastor taco. I went to college in Merced and J&R tacos had an al pastor dish that was amazing! I was apparently the only person who loved it because it was removed from the menu. Basically it was deliciousness with melted Mexican Cheese and huge chunks of pineapple. This is not the place to go to relive your college dreams. This taco...which was loaded with stuff, was edible but not delightful. I was grossed out by a chunk of fat I was hoping was pineapple. No pineapple flavor and too much fat and undesirable pieces of meat. And the shredded cheese with a lot of sour cream grossed me out. The al pastor nachos were better because the cheese was melted...but still there were chunks of fat cubes. To the dish's credit there was a lot of guacamole...but also a lot of sour cream. My husband had a carnitas taco...he rates it 3/5. He did order "super" tacos with cheese, guacamole, and sour cream and it might have been better being un-super. But the meat was not crispy enough on the edges. It was more soggy with chunks of fat. By this point, as I write this review...it seems the common theme here is "chunks of fat." The horchata was O.K. But it definitely tasted like it was from a powder or some sort of mix. It isn't homemade like the way my former roommate's grandma does it. Nope. Um. So would we come back? Probably, because it's right there. If you are making a trek to find a hole-in-the-wall restaurant of awesomeness...you should journey on. I think my arteries are going to need a week to recover. And I think I have not gone to a food truck for tacos and been as disappointed as here. Such is the truth for me.

Did I just find the best burritos near foster city?! I think so! I had my doubts but they were surprisingly really good. I got the carne asada jumbo burrito while my bf got the Al Pastor jumbo burrito. Both were massive. I could not finish it so I get to enjoy it again tomorrow! :D I really liked my carne asada burrito. There are different types of burritos you can get, a regular, super, and jumbo. A super just adds guac and sour cream to the regular and a jumbo adds tomato and lettuce to the super. It's very filling and very delightful. I liked adding the sauce that came with the chips to the burrito for added umpf but it was good on it's own. The carne asade was cooked well not too tough or chewy. After trying my bf's al pastor though I think I will have to go for that one next time. Definitely more flavorful and texture wise easier to bite through. Both were great in their own way. What was consistent between both was that they were massive and juicy! Great value.

This is my first time here. I have been to many different Mexican food all over san mateo. I have to say, they have the best carnitas. The meet has so much favor and the salsa was fresh. If you like carnitas this is the spot and the price is very reasonable.

Ordered the fajita salad with no beans, received a salad with very little & uncooked onions and bell peppers. The salad still had beans in it. This feels like a rip-off. It’s basically loads of lettuce and meat and cheese, for $13 base price. I don’t recommend this place.
