So happy to make it back to Amour Amour. David was fabulous, as always. Good food and wine in an intimate setting. We'll be back soon!
Another keeper!
We've been coming to Amour Amour for 12 years, and never a disappointment (although, we no longer live in San Mateo and haven't been here for several years). The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and brings us back to our time spent in Barcelona, Spain. We were very lucky and got a reservation for New Years Eve (2025 to welcome in 2026).
The food was delicious, tapas the right size to share, and the service very good. The Sangria was very good and went well with all our plates. Highly recommended.
We started out with Sachet de Prosciutto, Black Truffle Mushroom on Crostini, and Beet Salad. Yummy all the way around, but wanted more greens and less cabbage with the Beet salad (personal preference).
We continued on with Escargot, Gnocchi (stuffed with black truffle), and Patatas Bravas. Again, yummy all around. Unfortunately, as we've gotten older our stomachs are no longer able to cram in all the delicious foods we want, and we left very satisfied, happy with our meal, the folks in the restaurant, and looking forward to our next visit to Amour Amour!

It’s a lovely little Spanish tapa place. Very cute ambience almost feels like in Spain. Very intimate atmosphere.
A great selection of cold and hot tapas. Paired with their house made sangria.
All the food was delicious with amazing presentations.
The service was very attentive.
What’s not to like?!

We didn’t have a reservation on a Friday evening there weren’t any tables for walk-ins. But they had room at the “bar table” (no bar but it’s a bar table).

We had a lovely evening at Amour Amour. Service was outstanding, tapas were delicious! We were disappointed with the paella as the seafood was way overcooked with no crispy bottom to the rice and lacking flavor overall. But we'll be back for the tapas which is where they shine!
Such a quaint little shop with lots of decorations and things to see. I also liked how chill the restaurant was compared to hectic and busy downtown san mateo. I was actually able to have conversations while dining. Street parking was not too difficult to find.
They are a tapas restaurant so we tried 7 out of 8 tapas they offered. Octopus, shrimp, potatoes were the best. Pork belly was kind of Asian? It tasted like five spices lol
Meatball was way too salty so I don’t recommend. Gnocchi had a lot of herbs so i think some people might like it more than others.
Their baked brie appetizer was on par!
We enjoyed trying all the dishes, looking around their decorations, and being able to chat. Would definitely go back 🙌🏻

got paella (which was quite small), gnocchi, and burrata eggplant.. and mango panna cotta and lava cake. it was all just ok
Disappointing. Service was inattentive. But then they became suddenly eager to rush us out at 9:30 when we were still eating dessert (asking if the bill was ready 4 times). Maybe it was the rush hour of a Saturday night, but this did not meet my expectations or live up to the reviews. Food was meh. Paella was good but damn, budget cuts. Small size. I've had good experiences here in the past, so maybe I'll be back, but not any time soon. Oh, dessert was good!!
Cozy and welcoming atmosphere. We didn’t have a reservation, so we sat at the bar, which turned out to be nice. The octopus is very unique and thinly prepared — definitely the signature dish. Other small plates are also worth trying.
Great food. It is great that they expanded the menu. It is nice to see that Carla and Jose, who did a great job running the restaurant in the past, now own the place.

What my favorite restaurants have in common is the COMBINATION of great food, atmosphere/ambiance, and service. Amour Amour is a perfect example. Super nice owners that greet and engage with their customers, great food with a twist (ie a bit different than your boring chicken, salmon, beef cesar salad... And in a cozy atmosphere.
I'm so glad to have found this very special place! When you enter Amour Amour, it's like you're walking into another place or time. It feels like a charming corner tapas bar in Spain with the decor, friendly staff and amazing aromas! It's small and bustling and they make you feel like family. The food was amazing too! It was so good I got too distracted to take all the needed photos - shame on me!
