Fresh crullers on F, Sa, and Su. Get it, “Cruel Donuts”, crullers????
Anyway the crullers were great. I had a great chocolate frosted raised donut that was also just right. Most donuts, and donut shops are meh, for me.
Honestly one of the most unique, delicious fresh donuts I have tasted. Great customer service that always gets your order right! Highly recommend this place!

Cruel Donuts & Ice Cream is a must-visit gem in San Mateo, with a second location that is much bigger and nicer inside. The shop offers absolutely amazing, creative, and delicious donuts and ice cream. The donuts are spectacular and to die for, with varieties like the Strawberry Glazed, Crème Brûlée Donut, and Strawberry Shortcake all being winners. Their cruellers, available Friday through Sunday, are a specialty and possibly the best donut ever. The ice cream is equally incredible, featuring unique, tasty, and not too sweet flavors. Standouts include the rich and creamy Ube Macapuno, the dairy-free Coconut Pandan, and the creamy, rich strawberry flavors full of real fruit. Seasonal or limited batches like Aloha Love or Strawberry Polkadots are also delicious.
Beyond sweets, their breakfast sandwiches are a sleeper hit, particularly the sausage, egg and cheese croissant, which is buttery, flaky, and fresh. The coffee, including lattes and hot chocolate, is better than usual and a perfect complement. The staff is incredibly polite, kind, super friendly, and passionate, often providing samples and creating a nice community feel with hardly any wait. Parking can be challenging during peak business hours, but the experience is absolutely worth it. This one-stop shop is creative, delicious, and will have customers coming back again and again.
