The masala dosa came with only one chutney which is unusual because almost all dosa in restaurant setting come with three different ones. I think they run out of them so gave me only one on larger container.
The quality of the food itself was fine. There was a plenty of potato masala. Dosa itself was interesting. I think they made it differently just so it can tolerate the takeout situation. It's made thicker to survive the container and being transported. I was fine with that. I actually liked the dosa like that.
The automatic locker door thing didn't work because there was no Internet (Verizon wireless) so I asked for help but everyone in they were having lunch break and ignored me even though they were only 3 feet away from me. I shouted repeatedly, asking for help, and eventually a person came out and gave me my order.
During day, parking in the area is very difficult. I parked a bit far and walked to the place.
Inside there is a step, just one step, and I didn't know so i suddenly stepped down and almost fell. If I was a frail person I would have been injured from it. I was okay but I would never go there again.
If you knew l want dosa or any other Indian/Pakistan food, go to Sunnyvale. In Sunnyvale, there are literally hundreds to choose from, and due to the competition among restaurants, and some of the food trucks are in high quality in food.
I find it annoying that the Google listing for this place states it's a dine-in capable, but it's not.

Wanted to like this place more. Dosa Box is one of the ghost kitchens in San Mateo Food Mall. Ordered from the website for pick up. You get a text when it's ready, go inside and check in with the worker who is at the desk. They open the locker for you where the food is placed.
Our dosas were completely soggy. Would have been very good if it was still crispy. Although it makes sense that dosa would not be a good take out item. They could've poked holes in the box or put the masala potatoes separate instead of inside the dosa to maintain crispiness.
Also just a note if anyone was wondering, the masala dosa comes with sambar (since the menu is not clear about that).

We ordered two dosa from Dosa Box this week and found that there was something wrong with one of the ingredients. The flavor tasted like there was some ingredient that had gone rancid (maybe flour or oil). Both doses had the same issue. I reached out and didn’t hear back from the company, there isn’t anyone there to talk to. You order through a kiosk and when your order is ready, a locker pops open so that you can take your to go bag with you. I will not return.

We ordered idly, dosas, and biryani, and every single dish was absolutely delicious! The flavors were authentic and truly had that comforting homemade taste. We highly recommend it for anyone craving tasty, homemade-style South Indian food. We’ll definitely be ordering again!

Amazing South Indian food. Dosa, Idli and Vada were all very delicious. Their chutneys are also very delicious. The woman who brought me my order was very sweet and helpful. I will definitely be back again soon.
