I left for my dinner break at about 7:20pm. Knowing the restaurants website said they were closed at 7pm Monday-Friday, I thought I'd drive by and check. This Italian girl had been craving ravioli's all week (not sure why). The restaurant was open! And are open until 8pm on weekdays. I went in and ordered my ravioli dinner, which was enough for 2 people! It was amazing. The ravioli sauce should be bottled!! Thanks for being opened and I'll see you next week :)

My sons favorite. He loves the Ginos special. I am partial to their cold slaw. They are fast, courteous and easy parking. Never been disappointed by the food. I even pick up a few groceries. Check em out.

Hate to say it but this was extremely bland food as far as the sandwiches! Seemed clean and fresh, but two of us got sandwiches and both felt there was no flavor whatsoever. If you want a kind of clean fresh sandwhich and dont care too much about the flavor give it a go. Not that it tasted bad but i just couldnt taste anything! Oh well to each their own.

I ordered a sandwich from their set menu. A very common sandwich, as well. The person seemed confused when I ordered and even after explaining the sandwich, from their own menu, I received a makeshift sandwich of guesses. It was not even close. I know the person heard me correctly because they wrote the name of the sandwich on my sandwich wrapping. I don't know why the person didn't just ask one of their many coworkers how to make the sandwich, on their own menu, if they did not know how. The sandwich received was something I could have easily made at home and was not very good. Everyone else in my group was happy with their sandwiches. Teach your employees their own menu please. This is an OK sandwich place, and I would not go again, but my friends would.

My favorite local restaurant. This is a place for great value and great food. The staff is friendly and the sandwiches are superb. At night, they convert the delicatessen atmosphere to a homey Italian family-style restaurant. You get more food than you can eat with all the traditional accoutrements! It is one of San Mateo's best kept secrets and I hope I can get reservations when they open for sit-down again soon.

Have loved Espastos for years. Always went to their place after a workout at 24 hour fitness or just for a good hearty sandwich. I've always appreciated how they pack their sandwiches with meat and toppings while keeping it all put together and tasty looking. However, I was disappointed when myself and a friend went in today and left with sandwiches that were minimally filled. Not much meat, cheese, or balance of toppings like they normally do. I hope it was just a fluke Espastos!!!

Horrible service. The sandwich I ordered was not what I received -- did not have any of the add-ons (like avocado, bacon, garlic sauce) that I had ordered. I basically had a veggie sandwich with lettuce, pepperocino and 1 tomato--that's a veggie sandwich???. This was via GrubHub. My daughter returned it in person and asked for a new veggie sandwich. The sandwich I then received had only the add-ons. If I hadn't paid for the extras I would have 2 pieces of bread--no cucumber, onions, pepperocini, pickles, lettuce, mayo, mustard etc. I do not think a veggie sandwich is two pieces of bread. Need some Quality Control or people who know what they are doing.

Awesome Italian food that does to go. I live in SF, but make it a point to stop by in San Mateo to get their sandwiches. I have to say the "One and Only" sandwich I think it's called is the best sandwich I've eaten in the Bay Area--no doubt. The staff is super friendly and shouts out to Jessica who was kind enough to help me get food out to my car because of a disability. I also want to point out their meat sauce is also one of the top 3 meat sauces I've eaten out of a bottle. Rao's has them slightly best on sauce--but their sauces are sooooooo good. Make sure you stop by in San Mateo, it's close to freeway although hidden in a strip mall adjacent.MattM

Long time customer ... no longer .... CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS ... I wanted an Italian sub and I asked the young girl behind the counter if they had one and she said yes the panini and I said I don't want a warm sandwich .... we can make it the way you want it .... so I was paying and waiting for my sandwich which was taking a long time so I said I didn't want it heated up and then she said very rudely " YOU SHOULD OF SAID THAT FROM THE BEGINNING ... YOU KNOW A PANINI IS HEATED UP!!!" So I told her that she was rude and that I know what a panini is ... then the older man behind the counter came up and started to defend her .... so of course I lost it .... the girl was yelling also saying for me to leave and give back my money .... but you see I have a son with special needs who wanted what I already paid for ... so I asked for the money back for my sandwich from the very rude man and for my $5 tip i left on my credit card which he shoved towards me .... the girl was still yelling behind the counter as I left so I said I was going to call the owners and she yelled back "GO AHEAD AND CALL THEM". What ever happened to customer service?????
Best deli in San Mateo! Delicious sandwiches and sides. They also have great vegetarian options. Very nice patio for outdoor dining with your dogs. They even have wipes to sanitize the patio tables and hand sanitizer outside.

Some of the best sandwiches ever. Gabe's gourmet on Dutch Crunch is my go to favorite. I love that they have pasta, salads, meatloaf and more available too. Everything is superb. The best is they are Family owned and super friendly.

Best Deli in San Mateo!!! I've been going there for years. And used their catering services for my yearly events. The staff are awesome friendly and knowledgeable!! The BBQ on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday is delicious! I go for the Tri-tip or salmon. Sometimes a double patty cheese burger. Yum!
