I recently went to Fogbird with a group of friends to enjoy cocktails and have good conversation. The cocktails were amazing. In particular, I enjoyed the Fogbird Milk punch. Not only was it well executed, but it was creative, unique, and absolutely delicious. My only complaint from the evening was that the music level was a bit loud, so I had trouble hearing some of the other members in my group. Though, I think there was a speaker above me so not everyone may have that experience.

Probably the coolest cocktail lounge in San Mateo county. The finger food they serve is delicious. The cocktails are made by a seasoned mixologist. What's not to like. Every time I go, I feel like I'm hitting the jackpot by going to a San Francisco style lounge and only have to drive 5 minutes to get there. Highly recommended

The staff is next level. I feel like family when I come here. The new menu is excellent. Everything I've had so far has been a grand slam.

Such a lovely bespoke atmosphere and the cocktails and bar bites are so artfully crafted. My only disappointment was that I only had time to visit once during my time in San Mateo but I hope to return. Cheers!

So glad I found this place! San Mateo has needed a proper cocktail bar. My server, Danny, was the main reason for my exceptional experience. He made great recommendations and helped me feel welcome as a solo, first time visitor. The food is very good, the cocktails are excellent. Of course it gets a little loud when crowded, but that’s to be expected. I’ll definitely return!

Fogbird is a fun, laid back place with great, creative cocktails! I came in with a group of friends and everyone loved their drinks. We did not have food, but I’d like to return to try it as everything looked good.

One Of Us

My first, and last time.

I stopped for a drink with a friend. Should have left when they explained to us the wait system - regardless of empty tables, they will give people on the waitlist 10 minutes to show up, one party at a time. So if there are 5 parties that signed up online, you could stand there for 50 minutes looking at an empty table, waiting to be seated. Not the best system.

So we sat at the bar, which was pretty uncomfortable, trying to make conversation despite the poor acoustics.

After a while they offered us a table, instructing us to bring with us our drinks and water glasses. Seriously. Helping customers move their stuff is beneath the waiter. So I did two rounds, and we were settled at the table.

Then the waiter announced a last call. My friend ordered a second drink, but some minutes later the waiter came back saying that they were out of it. Would we like a different drink?
No, we wouldn't.
But he kept pushing again and again and again until it was simply uncomfortable.

Finally, the check. Along with the drinks we ordered an appetizer. Then were informed that the kitchen was closed and it's not available. Still, we were charged for it.

I left feeling sorry I walked in.

Enjoyed the vibe and paloma - my friend and I were able to get seating without reservation on Friday night. Unfortunately didn’t enjoy the penicillin. We had staff checking in on us a little too frequently; felt like we were expected to get more drinks or to close out and leave.

A delightful and much needed addition to downtown San Mateo! Lovely atmosphere, warm and elegant. Our server Dani was welcoming and attentive and explained their fav old fashioneds with both insight and enthusiasm, much appreciated. The Welcome Home and Like Old Times old fashion were sweet and savory lovely blends of flavor that proved complementary and delicious. The corpse reviver 2 was also a great flavor blend. We really enjoyed our cocktails and are planning a return visit soon!

This is my go to spot. The atmosphere is perfect. The drinks are crafted well. Haven't had one i didn't like. The Swan Song is my favorite drink. The flat breads are my fave. It does get a lil noisey when crowded, but then there outside seating option. Food does stop early so if you want a late night snack this isn't it.
