I've gotten the jasmine, lapsang, and chapaca milk teas. All smelled very nice, but had absolutely no flavor and only tasted of sweetened milk. Went on a weeknight and the line and wait were short

I really enjoyed the tea — you can truly taste the quality. It’s clear they use high-end ingredients with no artificial flavors at all.

Super crowded, big line and long wait. But the tea was good. Well located in the heart of San Mateo downtown.

Fantastic, authentic milk tea, now in the heart of San Mateo. Newly opened, this branch of Molly Tea is off to a gangbuster start. The cafe's ambience is welcoming, with the shop draped in Molly Tea's signature pink. The staff are doing a great job. Just be prepared for really, really long queues as LOTS of people want to get their milk tea fix here.

Got the seasonal apple tea, which was okay. The jasmine was absolutely lovely and I look forward to trying more of their flavors. The shop is super small so it's better to order through their app and wait outside till your number appears on the screen in the window. It can be busy around opening.

Drinks come with plain covering the lid which is nice but the regular lid leaked everywhere when I tried to drink my hot tea.

Will be back to try more!

Service was extremely frustrating due to one rude and impatient staff member.

After ordering via the QR code, I was not given an order number. When I asked, she dismissively told me I would receive a text when the order was ready. I waited outside for over 30 minutes with no text at all. Another staff member later helped me check the system and found that my order had been ready for a long time.

To make matters worse, this same employee was openly scolding other staff, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. This level of service is unacceptable.

I was eager to try out this new tea place when it first showed up in San Mateo Downtown, especially with the long line of people waiting outside. After I finally tried it out with friends, we all thought the overly priced teas weren't all that worth it.

Although the topping selections are unimpressive, I find their floral tea series quite unique. I enjoyed both the jasmine and champaca teas. They made the sweetness level as requested, but was stingy on the toppings. I thought it was weird that we could only request no ice on certain teas.

The staff seemed courteous, but refused to take orders in-person (although there was a cash register there, and there were a couple of staff members just standing behind the counter). They directed us to use the self-ordering device. I think it would be less confusing if they just put up a sign telling the customers where to place an order.

The business seems to be rather efficient in making the teas and getting them to the customers’ hands, as there is a digital display (both inside and outside the shop) showing which orders are ready to pick up.

In conclusion, I would not visit this tea place again. Considering everything, I prefer other places that have a more comfortable vibe, make as-good quality tapioca teas and charge more reasonably, hopefully with actual customer service.

Rude employeess. Terrible customer service; they can't answer any of the questions you ask them. All of them are robots and are there to only fulfill orders. Not friendly or helpful. Tea and brand is all hyped and over priced. Drinks all have hidden creamer in them that they don't tell you about. They can't even tell you what's in the oat milk. Once the hype dies down, this will be another passing fad.

New boba place but their selection is a bit limited.

Other locations are 5 stars but this location somehow is more watered down. Snowy jasmine cup is very light in weight so i ate all the whipped cream to see how milk tea they actually give… such a disappointment… it’s about 2/3 cup of tea only.

Ordered a Jasmine Milk Tea. The flavor is light and refreshing, better than the other milk teas in San Mateo.
I’m giving it 3 stars because they messed up the order and forgot the extra boba topping that I paid for…

Great tea. I’ll wait 5 mins for it but prob not 30 mins. Highly recommend ordering via their app and pick up at the store to avoid having to wait in line.

I love, love, love Molly Tea but the drinks at this location have tasted a lot more watered down both times we visited, compared to the Molly Tea locations in Sunnyvale and NYC. :(
