I did a large order online a day ahead because I needed to pick up a lot of food/coffee in an efficient way. My order was 30 min late, and none of the coffee boxes were labelled (I ordered 2 different flavors). They also forgot part of the order and had to be reminded which further delayed things. The order was put out on a shelf, and I had to ask for bags because it would have been impossible to carry so many items otherwise. The staff was clearly stressed which made for an uncomfortable experience as I felt like I was bothering them when asking for the missed part of the order, bags, etc. What is the point of ordering ahead if your order isn't even close to ready at the designated pickup time? I cannot believe how terrible this experience was, and it's unlikely that I would ever do this again.

The manager almost committed wage theft in front of their employees and me 😬
My wife and I went in for 2 bagel sandwiches, and the cashier accidentally added an extra chocolate bagel to the order. Before I caught it, I swiped my card.
Right after, my wife noticed the mistake and we asked for the transaction to be cancelled/changed. The cashier grabbed the manager, who took a look at the receipt AND THEN STARTED GRABBING CASH OUT OF THE TIP JAR to pay me back for the bagel.
We quickly said no thanks, we’ll just take the bagel.
Taking money out of tip jars to correct a transaction mistake is not legal in the state of CA.
I doubt the manager meant any harm, but I worry that if they’re willing to just grab tip money there may be other shenanigans going on at the business. I’m sure everyone is minimum wage, so tips are important.
I hope the employees are ok, this is on the owners to correct.

Good bagels but I fail to understand why they don’t have a list of schmears on the menu, everyone has to ask and it slows the line down. Having the to-go schmear containers on the other side of the register where nobody can see it doesn’t help. Such a simple thing, I can’t understand the logic, or lack thereof, of the management on this.

This is a difficult review to write. The bagels are good. The staff is friendly and fast. This shop is the only thing open at 5:30am when I am looking for a bagel. Those are pluses.
But my order keeps being wrong. I ordered two bagel sandwiches last week and both were missing the meat that goes in them. This is twice in less than two months. The staff might be overwhelmed? Poorly paid? Certainly too busy to answer the phone when I called. Those are negatives.
The corporate folks have replied to my complaints on their website and offered to refund my money if I jumped threw their hoops to join their rewards program to get a refund. That's both too odd and too much trouble. I didn't keep my receipt or open up my sandwiches before I left the shop so I guess it is my fault for expecting accuracy. That's a draw
So…how many more chances do I give a business that has gotten two out of three recent orders wrong?
I think I know my answer.

🥯 The Bagels:
I visited Noah's Bagels for a quick bite, and the bagel I ordered was perfectly fine. It was a standard bagel – toasted as requested, and the cream cheese was applied generously. It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but it satisfied the craving.
☕ Coffee:
The coffee was also what you'd expect from a casual bagel spot. It was hot and served its purpose, but didn't have any distinguishing features.
🛎️ Service:
The service was efficient and straightforward. My order was taken accurately, and the staff processed it without any issues or significant delays. It was an adequate, no-frills interaction.
📍 Location & Ambiance:
This location in San Mateo is typical for a Noah's Bagels. It's a casual and functional space, good for grabbing a quick meal. It's not a place you'd necessarily linger for the atmosphere, but it serves its purpose for a convenient bite.
🤔 Overall:
Noah's Bagels in San Mateo delivers a perfectly acceptable, standard bagel experience. There's nothing particularly exciting or disappointing about it. It's a reliable option if you're in the mood for a quick bagel and coffee, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back if I'm in the area and need something easy. It's a solid 3-star spot.

In New York they cook the eggs and bacon fresh On a flat top grill they're not premade or reheated unless you go somewhere like McDonalds or 7-11.
Delicious bagels and cream cheese! Our favourites are Asiago cheese and Everything and toasted well with veggies cream cheese. Goes really well with the coffee. Prompt service
