Clean, well lighted place! I especially like it that there wasn’t a strong sweet smell inside ^^ a variety of flavors available, and the pastries are HUGE

Service was great; got my pastries reheated and they tasted great 👍

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this shop. I’ve been buying birthday cakes for my kids from Paris Baguette for years, but this year’s experience was by far the worst and genuinely shocked me—in a bad way.

The store had plenty of seasonal cakes on display, and since none of them had cute birthday designs, I picked a holiday-themed one. I simply asked if they could switch the “Happy Holiday” sign to “Happy Birthday.” Not only did they refuse without any effort to help, but they handed me a tiny “Happy Birthday” chocolate sign that was thinner than my finger and told me I’d have to buy any other sign myself. This level of inflexibility was surprising for a bakery I’ve supported for so long.

It got worse. When they asked if I needed candles, I said yes. They packed only five. When I asked for a few more—because my child is obviously older than five—they refused again and told me I needed to purchase extra candles, even though the store had plenty available right in front of me.

Just a warning: if you're buying a birthday cake for anyone over age 5, expect to pay an extra $8 for additional candles and any basic birthday decoration. Nothing beyond the bare minimum is included.

I had an unpleasant experience. A young lady welcomed me kindly and showed me where the trays and tongs were, which I appreciated. Everything was fine until I went to order a coffee and pay. The cashier approached me speaking in English, and I responded in English as well, asking for a coffee, please. With a condescending tone and noticeable frustration, she replied to me in Spanish (Maybe it was because of my Latino accent).

I asked for a medium coffee. Without saying a word, she immediately turned around and started preparing it, without giving me the chance to specify whether I wanted regular or decaf. When she handed it to me, I asked if it was decaf. In an irritated tone, she said, “You didn’t tell me which one you wanted.” I explained that I wanted decaf and that she hadn’t given me time to say it. Annoyed, she turned around to throw it away, so I told her, “You know what? That’s fine, I’ll take the regular coffe.”

I’ve noticed some recent low ratings for Paris Baguette San Mateo, including one that mentioned mold in a cake. Yikes. I really hope the team addresses that quickly and tightens up quality control. In my own experience, though, the food has been solid with no complaints. The pastries I’ve tried have been fresh, the coffee consistent, and service friendly and efficient. Orders come out as expected and the shop feels clean and welcoming. I’ll keep an eye on how they respond to those concerns, but based on what I’ve actually had here, it’s still a solid 5 stars in my book.

If you don't speak English, I wouldn't recommend going. Because the employees there find you very repulsive. They told me so to my face. The cashiers are very angry. This is the third bad experience I've had at this place. You want to have coffee with a friend? Then don't go to this place because we asked for 2 hot coffees. They filled the cups halfway and gave them that way. And we were surprised because it seemed very strange for a coffee to be so cold to my friend and me. When we told them the coffee was cold, they preferred to put it in the microwave. This is the first time I've experienced something like this. If they don't like you, they deliver your food that way. In other words, friendly service to people is 0.

When I go to a restaurant called Paris baguette I expect to be able to eat a fresh French baguette and not a stale heavy chewy roll.

Nice and spacious Paris Baguette! One of my favorite locations. Only thing I could mention is the register staff didn't offer to warm our pastries. But I'm sure if I asked, they would've (but as a first time visit I wasn't aware I could!). Would love to come back. Love the shopping area this store finds itself in.

Typical Paris Baguette with all the usual selection and it is pretty clean. Took off a star as there is only one person at the register and making the drinks while everyone else is at the back. This can make the line to checkout backup.

The service was very nice, but...
Don't get the pistachio strawberry cake!! I thought people were exaggerating when they said the pistachio flavor is too artificial, but its the nastiest I've ever tasted. Do better paris baguette!! There are so many natural pistachio flavorings out there. For this price it's a real shame and not worth it. So disappointed!

Great selection of high quality pastries, cakes, sandwiches and drinks. Very easy to look, choose, buy and enjoy. We needed a quick treat and drink in San Mateo and this was perfect.
