This is a crummy coffee shop! Staff are inattentive and cough all over your food and drinks while making them. Somehow the coffee drinks taste watered down. I got coffee with a friend one time, and we both agreed it was DISGUSTING. I said it tasted like a wet rag and we both laughed at the idea of how I know what that would taste like, but she agreed it was pretty bad. Just my 2 cents, there are tons of great coffee shops in downtown San Mateo, spend your time and money there instead.

I will start by saying that I love Peets coffee, and most of the time the service is amazing. Today I ordered. Through the app because I was on my way for a long trip and I literally double parked just to pick up the coffee. The barista was dawdling talking to people stops every 10 seconds and it took him forever to make my coffee. I literally had to stand there and wait unnecessarily . Somebody needs to teach this barista to be more focused and efficient.

I love this location! Israh, Diego, Edson, Ellen, Joseph, Jen and Vicki are all so friendly and welcoming—it makes the whole experience feel so personal. I love that they greet their regulars by name, and they literally know my order based on the time of day, which is a nice touch.
The coffee is always delicious, and my drink has never been wrong. The vibe is cozy, the store is clean, and the service is fast without ever feeling rushed. Whether I’m grabbing a quick coffee to go or working on my laptop for a bit, it’s always such a great experience.

The latte was delicious 😋. However, I would ask Peet's to clean their door. You can see the fingerprints everywhere but no offense to anyone.

I usually do my orders online and they are usually late by 10-15 min. Today my order came in at 8:30. I’m not sure the point of ordering online when it’s never ready when I arrive. Plus they never fill my coffee to the top.

This is a Peet's Coffee place... so... as expected.
BUT... why on earth is it so )($%I)#$@_!@# cold here? especially if you sit in the back. really! ... if you need to store frozen foods - this is a great location to visit (especially in the summer). I doubt ice cream would melt in the "dining area" !
just dont stay too long, otherwise they will be retrieving your body in the next thaw.

FYI: I am a person who prefers cold weather in general.

Dante was Amazing!!! I asked for a caffeinated extra creamy vanilla drink. He created Carmel macchiato drink with oat milk extra splash of vanilla. Best drink I ever had and he topped it off with friendliest kind service. Request Dante when at Peet’s San Mateo, get more than you can imagine Thank you Liz
