Established local chain that serves yummy pastry items and cake plus authentic Hong Kong milk tea in a no frill setting. To go only. Always always visit to grab yummy treats, quick breakfast that can be washed down nicely with HK style milk tea at excellent pricing. A must for me 😎. And do not forget to try the mini meat pies that are also excellent👍

Exclusively baked, wheat flour pastries, buns and cakes at this San Mateo location of a Peninsula Chinese franchise.
Grab-and-go banh mi sandwich was decent, but not life-changing enough to detour to this spot.

Cashier was very rude and arrogant. I bought two birthday cakes. When I asked if there are plates/forks or candle available, she shouted at me as if it was my fault that they did not have any, and insisted that they would not have those in the further either. My daughter got scared.

Your usual Chinese bakery-- it's a chain so it's a bit more standardized but similar prices and quality to some of the more random mom & pop ones you find in the city. Decent BBQ pork buns for the price, but for better overall (but pricier) buns try Simply Cake. Not busy on a Friday afternoon, friendly staff, good ventilation.

The mango mousse cake was perfect- not too sweet and light! Everyone at our party loved it.
Best bakery in Bay area!
Do NOT buy this bean paste or cake or whatever this is. This is disgusting and isn't even food. Bread is okay.

I was looking for a bakery near at my work before going home that morning and this store shows up. I heard from our other friend that they like Sheng kee bakery. I bought moon cake, melon cake and freshly baked pork bun to bring home for the kids to bring it at school for lunch.
The moon cake really taste good will buy more but it's a bit pricey for less than $3. I asked our kids if they liked the pork bun they say it's good. Melon cookie taste good also.
Before I go to work I'll stop by and buy some.

Closest Chinese bakery near the area that is decent and not have to go far. Service is questionable sometimes. For example: When I order cakes they ask what they want to write on it but when I go pick up there’s nothing written on it.

This is a review for Sheng Kee's wedding cake service.
I grew up eating Chinese sponge strawberry shortcake (it is a CORE MEMORY ok), so when it came to our wedding cake I wanted this type of cake specifically.
First we contacted Kee Wah, who claimed their delivery radius was 30 miles. No problem, our venue was 29 miles from their location. Kee Wah REFUSED to deliver for us, claiming that 29 miles is greater than 30 miles -surprised Pikachu face-. Okay you can't reason with the unreasonable, so we reached out to Sheng Kee over their website.
They sent us a catalog of designs and prices. We chose the biggest, a four-tier cake that can serve 250 guests. We paid extra for fresh strawberries, which was fine and I expected it. I've been to other Asian weddings where the couple cheaped out and used red icing in between each layer to "mimic" berries. Wouldn't be me.
Sheng Kee sent us the phone number of the baker, who was also the delivery courier. We called him several days in advance to confirm our order.
The baker arrived with an assistant to the venue on time and assembled each layer on site. He also piped the decorative flowers on site, which honestly was pretty cool to watch. He also helped us put our cake topper. Our guests loved the cake, taking photos of it and eating it!
Price for the cake was a great value. I would recommend to all ABC couples getting married in the Bay Area.
