The best salt and pepper shrimps, calamari, smelt fish, and their cod fish dishes are delicious also, in San Mateo. A hidden gem. Friendly workers. Fast service and Opens all the time.

My Rating System1-Star: Horrible, 2-Star: Bad, 3-Star: Average, 4-Star: Good, 5-Star: Amazing (I have yet to consider any restaurant a 5-star).I've been to this restaurant several times. Once upon a time, I would have rated this restaurant at 4 stars, but these days some of my favorite dishes don't seem to taste as good. It's still a restaurant worth going to if you're looking for chinese food. Please keep in mind that I can be something of a tough critic when there is a rating system. I think most restaurants are 3-star, but are worth going to. You need only be weary of anything I would give a 2-star or lower.

I enjoyed a large group family gathering dinner at this restaurant on Saturday night. They have a room in the back for large groups. It was nice as we had the whole back room to ourselves and used 2 of the 4 ten-top tables.Food came out quicker than table space available, but room was always found for the new dish. Portions were a good size. Dishes were flavorful.Service was friendly and accommodating, especially nice with large group gatherings. The atmosphere was nondescript and boarding dingy.Parking: Very limited free street parking on busy El Camino Real. Might have to walk a few blocks due to limited street parking spaces.

A good place for cheap (westernized) Chinese food. Highlights were the black pepper beef and fried rice. The peking style spare rib and sweet and sour chicken were a bit too sour for my liking. We received a complimentary chicken soup (老鸭煲) along with our meal as well! Though the quality wasn’t amazing, this was an enjoyable experience for how cheap it was.

Great taste with very affordable price! We 4 people meal totally spent less than $100.

Pretty decent Chinese food with fairly authentic flavors that reminded me of my mom's cooking. Very reasonable price given how expensive everything is around the Bay Area.

Avoid this place on Saturday evenings unless you're prepared to wait 45-min for your meal. One waitress cannot serve 30-people plus takeout...

My partner and I initially wanted to eat a sushi place across the street but it was packed. I saw this restaurant on google, it was highly rated, and the food looked good. We walked up and the restaurant was packed with families big and small on a Thursday night—a good sign that the food is goooood. The menu offered the 3 entrees with soup for $30 or 4 entrees with soup for $43. We opted for the 4 entrees since the options were better and we can take leftovers home. The food came out fast, piping hot, and very delicious. Cantonese food is so freaking good. I recommend the rock cod, and beef and broccoli!! I will come here again to try other dishes. It’s affordable and delicious, big portions and a lot of people do take out.

Peking duck was just dry roast duck. Fish filet with braised tofu was all broken up pieces. Yee mein with shrimp had a few small pieces of shrimp and a lot of water, instead of stir frying the noodles I guess the chef just ran hot water over them and dumped them into the bowl without straining them carefully. Seems like very careless cooking, but I guess with the relatively low prices you get what you pay for.
