I came here to celebrate my brother’s birthday and it was a plus since I was craving for some ramen. We had a large party and its first come first serve where they do not take reservations. Upon arrival, it was pretty much a full house, we gave the host our party size and provided her with a name. We were told there was going to be a wait, but I don’t mind at all since I have high patience and decided to stroll around the area. After walking around my appetite grew and it became more busy. Finally we were seated and greeted by their friendly and well trained staffs. The menu is basically half drink and half food. Many great drinks, appetizers and ramen to choose from. They are very well known in Japan and their specialty dish is the ramen that has soup on the side for dipping. Their interior is very modern that includes wooden furniture with a hint of dim lights. Also their noodles are made daily from scratch. I highly recommend this place for all ramen enthusiasts, anyone looking to try something new or just looking for a laid back spot. I definitely will be back to try out their other items.
[8.5/10] Tokusei Tsukemen
- Broth and noodles are 10/10. Rich in flavor + good portion of noodles
- Egg 9/10
- Chashu was a little dry
- Rare Chashu was pretty good
Ramen was okay. The tofu appetizer is very good!
I had the dipping noodles. Half way through, a waiter came along and asked if I needed to add soup. I thought the added soup would be the same broth, but it turned out it was almost water. The broth became completely bland and uneatable. I've been here several times and this is the first time that this happened.
Also, when we ordered, we asked what's the difference between the two dipping noodles. The waitress said the topping is different. Then I said so what's the difference? She said the first one has more toppings b/c it's more expensive and smiled like it was obvious. Ofc I know! Just tell me what's in the first one that's not in the second one! Why so difficult?!
Happy to see tsukemen is getting popular in the Bay Area. I ordered the signature dipping noodle, overall it tastes good and I can give it 5 star. However, I would still recommend the store to reduce the Yuzu flavor in the dipping soup. It adds some refreshing flavor for sure, but I think tsukemen is supposed to be bold, so just keeping the original salty & meaty broth will make the flavor more authentic. Worth trying!

Waiting a bit on the waitlist (for some reason was unable to join remotely on Yelp) but worth it when we got our food! They were pretty fast bringing it out too.

If you like thick chewy heavy ramen then this is the place. Both the dipping ramen and soup less ramen were delicious!

No need to overthink it - this is a good spot for tasty food in a relaxed setting if you’re in the mood for noodles. The tsukemen is great, but don’t sleep on the dry noodles either. Quick service. Use Yelp’s waitlist from the app during busy times.

The cucumber miso chili and karaage were excellent. The potato salad was interesting, but I don't imagine I would order it again. The ajitame spicy ramen had a nice rich broth that was excellent. Not too spicy, and not overwhelmingly salty.

Their miso ramen and dan dan men are both amazing.
Vegetarian options: They have 2 vegetarian options for main course. We got the dan dan men, which is a bowl of saucy noodles and loved it.
