Wow, this place is in decay.
Use to be a hotspot that drew folks from as far north as San Rafael to very south in SanJose.
Why? New management that did away with dueling pianos, trivia and karaoke.
It is “only locals” now with a bartender that makes sure they have no customer service for anyone new.
The food was really good.
Always a good spot
Four local pastors met here for lunch and we loved it!
Stopped in for a drink before heading to sushi next door and was pleasantly surprised. The premium Martini was....uhm, let's just say prices are more than reasonable; honestly, they’re fantastic for the quality.
The only questionable part: A very inebriated patron at the bar already deep into her cups at 4 p.m. I mean… day drinking is one thing, but full-on drunk before happy hour? Impressive or concerning—you decide.
Jokes aside, the Guinness was solid, the prices unbeatable, and I’ll definitely be back to try the deep-fried grub. Cheers family!
Great historic place and menu!
Been coming to this place for years. Walked in there this evening, sat down, ordered and was served, then was told to leave as we weren’t there for the Meta private party. Totally understand if they have the place rented out, but put a sign on the door or something. The guy who seemed to be in charge of said party was an aggressive jerk. I’m thinking I’ve had my last beer and meal there. They do have good entertainment, especially with the Dixieland music on Tuesdays, and the food is good, but with the experience we had this evening, probably won’t be coming back.
Went for karaoke as advertised...no karaoke. Will try again.
Stopped by on a Tuesday night and was really glad to catch a live band, which is rare occurrence these days. The food was great!! Definitely get the fish and chips with extra tartar sauce if you go. Unfortunately, the bar service was pretty disappointing. The bartender barely acknowledged me and she seemed uninterested in helping, which made the visit feel a bit off. The food was good enough that I’ll probably come back on a different night to try one of the karaoke events, but I’m hoping for a better experience next time.
Karaoke. Small patio. Local Only Vibes but welcoming. Learned a lot about a good Old Fashioned. Historic. Use Google. Look them up 😉

No more dueling pianos, too bad. They should update their listing.
It’s really authentic for an Irish pub. Run down and old.

Stopped by early one evening, hoping that the fish 'n' chips was as good as I have heard over the years. Being well off our own beaten path of local haunts, it has taken awhile to make an effort to stop. But my GF and I are so glad we did.
We got the fish 'n' chips to go. First, the goodies- everything we needed was packed into the bag: salt, pepper, malt vinegar, lemon wedges, tartar sauce, ketchup, a really sturdy plastic fork (YES!, really!!), and napkins.
Second, the food- this fish was simply stellar!! It was fresh, not frozen, judging purely by how easily the flesh flaked off with the slightest touch of your fork! Heavenly! The fries were done a uniform medium, though I am sure they would happily make them a bit crunchier if you prefer. If you need to address your cole slaw addiction, it'll cost you another buck per serving, but the slaw is really solid, though perhaps a bit sweeter than most.
Third, the staff was so pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. We could not appreciate them any more than we do. One of them is even a DKMs fan, with her own cocktail creation named after the Dropkick's song Rose Tattoo. Please try one when you stop by!
To sum it up, this is the best fish 'n' chips we have found in San Mateo County, and we will be back the next time we have that f 'n' c itch to scratch!

I should have known what type of food & service I was about to get because as soon as I approached the bar, I was greeted by a couple of fruit flies. I ordered one fish & chips with a Guiness. The one fish I received was 1/3 size of one whole fish, so I was missing 2/3rds!!?
I think the cooking oil was rancid because the food had an odd after taste., not enjoyable.
Service okay. I was the only one in the bar. Although, two people had just left.

This online menu is absolutely completely outdated and prices are at least a third higher and it needs a serious update.
I'm staying for dinner and plan to update this review in a bit but the fact they have karaoke tonight automatically gets an extra star from me.
I got the fish and chips. Fish was fantastic and large pieces. Fries were marginal at best. Bland and dry although fresh. If you prefer bland dry steak fries you'll love these. The house ketchup however was a game changer and had a hint of a spicy habanero flavor but nothing overpowering. Made it much easier to choke down those bland fries. People working seemed pretty nice and friendly.
I had to leave but came right back for the karaoke. The KJ Ben is a nice guy and his sound and selection was decent and he kept the rotation decently in order. I'll be back for sure. Small quaint crowd but fun and friendly.
Parking: Unless you're one of the lucky few to find a parking spot out front, plan on parking away and walking in. There's sometimes a few places on the street across the road but all parking in the lot against the building are clearly labeled not to park there. Not sure how the parking lot that should be for that establishment is somehow controlled by a neighboring business but it certainly hurts the place when it comes to parking.
Wheelchair accessibility: ADA compliant and as accommodating as possible considering it's a tiny little place inside as it is but there's still room for the handicap

Ok menu, standard pub fare. The fish and chips are top notch, everything else just ok. Mixed drinks are a bit on the watery side, better to stick with the wine and beer, of which their Henhouse ale is the best. Came for the Tuesday night jazz, which was top-notch! Only wish there was room for dancing.
