Town of Dumpling – San Mateo
I’ve lived in San Mateo my whole life and somehow never tried Town of Dumpling until now — no idea how I missed it, but I’m really glad I finally went. The food was seriously delicious. The soup dumplings especially were a standout — super flavorful, juicy, and perfectly done. You could tell everything was made fresh and with care.

Prices were totally fair too, which was a nice surprise given how high quality everything...

Authentic Dim sum/Dumpling experience in a hole in the wall joint. The soup dumplings were excellent, as were the pot stickers, beef dumplings, and radish dumplings. The real star of the show was the egg custard buns, they were so good we got a second order for the table, and some frozen ones for cooking at home (THEY SELL FROZEN DUMPLINGS FOR LATER!!). five of us ate until we were stuffed for not very much money at all. Definitely that “hole in the wall, unassuming location” type of lucky find. Dining room is nothing to write home about. Stopped in on a whim and ordered dumplings. Had to use their restroom which meant walking through the kitchen whereupon I saw them making the dumplings there. Fresh made on the spot. Can’t go wrong with that! And it did NOT disappoint. Big bang for your buck and the gentlemen greeting and taking your order is very kind. They make their own hot sauce so...
