A rare treasure find!!! This restaurant captures the essence of a genuine Laotian dining experience with its authentic ambiance and homemade dishes that are unique to this establishment. The Laosausages and noodles are particularly delightful, and their tomato sauce is extraordinary. It truly reminds me of the authentic, home-cooked Laotian meals from back home! Also I love the waiter. Reminds me of my uncle!

Grocery store closed. There's no grocery store here. I think it closed down. Only a restaurant. I haven't tried the food, so not sure if it's good.

Been going there before it was a restaurant. It was an asian market before SP supermarket opened. Great Lao food. Always get the papaya salad (lao style) chicken curry and banh mi.

Has been awhile since we visited this restaurant. The restaurant is nested on 23rd St. at the corner of Bush & 23rd in Richmond, Ca. We ordered the chicken larb, lao sausage and kao soy for to-go/takeout. The larb was so flavorful - it was like a party in your mouth: sour, spicy, juicy, with all the fragrance of the herbs mixed together. The Romaine lettuce, iceberg lettuce wedge, and cucumber slices were fresh and crisp. It made the larb very enjoyable. The crunchiness of the vegetables complemented the larb perfectly. The sausage - it reminded me of how my mom used to cook it for us when we growing up. Wasn't the traditional lao sausage with the herbs mixed in the meat... this sausage was made, Air cured for days until it dried up, Sliced in 1-1.5 inch pieces and then deep fried. It could be an acquired taste but once you've tried it, you'll always go back for more. The smoked tomato based pepper sauce that came with it wasn't spicy, but it was perfect for dipping. The tartness of the tomatoes mixed with cilantro, lime juice, garlic, and chili pepper completed the dish. The kao soy was also very flavorful with the generous pork meatsauce. The hofun/big flat rice noodles were perfectly soft. However, it was lacking key meat ingredients such as meatballs, shrimp and tripe. Thankfully, we are home-chefs so we had these key ingredients to compliment the soup.

We stumbled onto this hole-in-the-wall gem after we explored Cypress Tree Tunnel, Chimney Rock, and the Lighthouse. We flipped through a bunch of Asian restaurants and restaurants that have raw oysters, but it was late in the day so the ones we wanted to try were already closed or not open on Tuesday. We took a chance after reading all these reviews and drove almost 2 hours to That Luang Kitchen Lao Cuisine. From experience "sketchy" places offers the best hole-in-the-wall foods. So, yes, just like how others described, it is in a "sketchy" location with very limited parking. Almost 2 hours later (traffic) we finally got inside and the moment I walked in I knew the food was going to be awesome. The inside is like typical Southeast Asian homes LOL. Unfortunately, after the super cool owner greeted us, he sadly informed us that he doesn't serve dinner (doesn't do dine in after 6 pm). It was already around 5:30pm-ish. We were a bit disappointed but we understood why. So, we ordered to go. And to go we did! We got my favorite dish, the spicy bitter raw beef larb, and a few other dishes including sticky rice and a jar of my favorite fermented spicy padaek pepper. No disappointment with the food! If you want real authentic hole-in-the-wall Lao food... this is the place.
