Kalaveras is always the bomb. They have the best tostadas, drinks, and birria. It's one of those chains that you are glad they're in multiple locations. Their Long Beach location is also great vibes. I always stop at Kalaveras if I'm on my way back from visiting rancho palos Verdes!

First time here and we had an awesome experience. The food is delicious, especially the Albóndigas Soup.. OMG I could not get enough of it, it has now become 1 of my top 10 soups. The atmosphere was quiet but vibrant. This is now going to be on our top 20 places when we are in town.

Small portions great drinks but pricey its a low key place most of the time and there might be one thing maybe two things on the menu that I’ll like but better than this place there’s another place down the street it’s kick ass really nice I’ll get you the details shortly I’ll update the post

Food is basic.. overpriced.. music is too loud to enjoy anything. Waiters have attitude.
Sign says one closing time, inside they tell you another thing. Each location is poorly managed.

Had lunch the day before our cruise. Very happy with my dish, which was baked nachos thing… name escapes me. But the star to me was their handmade salsa that’s just the right spiciness and there’s greasy salty chips. Definitely would come back again my next trip to Long Beach/San Pedro.

Disappointed at Kalaveras San Pedro — A Far Cry from Long Beach

I recently visited Kalaveras in San Pedro with a group of friends before attending the city's art studio tours. Having previously dined at their Long Beach location, I was familiar with the menu and had high expectations based on past experiences. Unfortunately, our meal fell far short.

After ordering cocktails, we looked forward to our entrées with anticipation. The fajitas arrived along with my carnitas dish. The fajitas were overly salty, and the meat was noticeably dry—not the vibrant, sizzling dish I had expected.

My carnitas were particularly disappointing. Instead of the tender, chunky pieces I've enjoyed in the past, these were overly shredded, drowned in a thin, red enchilada-style sauce, and cloyingly salty. The portion size was more appropriate for an appetiser than an entrée.
The sides didn't help redeem the meal. The beans were served lukewarm, and though the menu claimed they came with Cotija cheese, there was only a minimal sprinkle, hardly worth mentioning.

Another vexing issue was the loudness of the place. The music was way too loud, coupled with the chatter of the other patrons, making the dining experience less than enjoyable. They should do something to mitigate the incessant din in the restaurant.

All in all, it was a complete miss. While I understand Kalaveras is a chain, the difference in quality between this location and the one in Long Beach was stark. Sadly, my friends and I won't be returning to the San Pedro location.
