The Chomage miso tonkatsu ramen was terrific. Even better than when I had this dish at a highly rated ramen restaurant in Japantown. Very flavorful. not heavy or greasy.

It was nice to sit in the outdoor patio near a fountain.

The soup is tasty but under new management the authenticity seems to be gone from this once great Ramen restaurant. Today it just left me wanting, maybe it will grow on me but the small soup portion was... odd. Having recently eaten Ramen all over Japan, this bowl (Sasuke) had an uncomfortable fusion feel with noodles that are more like instant noodles than I prefer, eggs that are just wrong and fancy sprout veggies. Now the sprouts were delicious, just not what I expected, they wouldn't have even been a negative if they weren't a visual reminder of the strangeness of this ramen bowl.

Chonmage in San Rafael delivers standout ramen with rich broths and generous portions. The spicy miso and black garlic varieties are particularly praised. Beyond ramen, the chicken katsu curry and wagyu rice bowls are also popular choices. The restaurant offers a cozy, casual atmosphere with friendly service. While some find the tempura underwhelming, the overall experience is positive. For authentic Japanese comfort food in Marin, Chonmage is a solid choice.

Nice Ramen place for a quick lunch with quite a lot of selections. The dining area is not that big, but they have outside seating as well.

After hiking Dipsea Trail, we were looking for some comfort food to heal our aching body. lol This place hit the spot. We all ordered ramen- the spicy wagyu and the black garlic. All was delish! We also ordered some calamari and takoyaki for appetizers. Delish!!! We were so hungry the only pix I took was the spicy wagyu ramen!! If you are in the area, stop on by, you won’t be disappointed!

The staff here are just absolutely lovely and so friendly. They really made us feel so comfortable and welcome throughout our meal. The space itself is incredibly cozy and spotlessly clean, giving off a wonderful Japanese vibe.

I was absolutely thrilled with my order – the spicy miso tonkotsu ramen was out of this world delicious! The richness, the perfect level of spice, it was all so incredibly satisfying, and the portion size was very generous.

My friends all raved about their dishes too.

We'll definitely be back again!

Something Sweet

Absolutely amazing ramen! The broth was rich and full of umami, the noodles perfectly chewy, and the toppings fresh and flavorful—especially the melt-in-your-mouth chashu and creamy soft-boiled egg. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even better. Definitely a must-visit!

The food is good, but the service is BAD. I do not recommend it! I will never go back!

They don’t have kids menu. They have a cucumber salad and I asked if they could make a small cucumber salad just with cucumber and tomatoes, the owner said just NO. He didn’t wanted to accommodate the food restrictions for our baby. The food is ok, but the service doesn’t worth.
