I’ve gotten takeout from here twice & both times they’ve messed up the order, either by adding onions when I’ve requested none or by forgetting the bacon on a bacon burger. The food is otherwise tasty but c’mon how do you forget an ingredient that’s in the name of the item?? This place has been in Marin forever but I’d rather go somewhere else to actually get what I order.

to start with they ask you how u want ur burger cooked, they have alist right their telling u whats is on ur burger, so u can tell them what u want & do not want, that is true service !!!! & their bergers & hotdogs r great !!!! their 1/2lb burger / sauted onions is $12.oo , the going price these days, no wonder the lines at n-n-out r so long !!!!

I got a cheeseburger there and the cheese wasn't even melted, my medium hamburger was barely cooked and raw, the tomatoes were old, and the bun was cold and hard. The San Rafael location used to make great hamburgers, but I don't see myself going back there anytime soon after the meal I just got from them. For what they charge for a hamburger, fries, and Coke - they should at least have somebody that knows how to prepare them.

Stop by here on my way back from Point Reyes. Best burger I've had recently. Fast service and fairly priced. I really loved the onion rings.Parking: I came at night and it wasn't busy.
Only writing this after emailing the manager and receiving no response. We wanted a hearty meal since we had to get up the next morning at 4am to fly somewhere so...a burger place sounded good. We ordered a burger with raw onion (menu said it came with grilled) , a grilled chicken burger (sandwich) and one order of fries- about $30. When my husband picked up the order, the guy repeated back the order-clearly printed on the attached receipt so he took the bag and came home. Once home-the order had grilled onion and the chicken burger was a hamburger. I eat meat so I went ahead and ate it since we had things to do for our trip but- we were so pissed off- its 100% wrong and super expensive. I called and told the guy that answered the phone about the order and he did not seem to understand what I was saying. Why have someone that does not understand things answer the phone??!! We will not get food here again, this was the second time our EXPENSIVE order was wrong or not very good.

Been going here forever, the best every day burger had a reasonable price in Marin. Lean juicy beef, lots of selections, good buns.

This place is disgusting and unhygienic. Came in to see the chef feed himself the sides (onions, cheese, tomatoes) and cook the food without washing hands, touching buns and raw lettuce when putting the hamburger together. Don't know how this place passed the health inspection. Never coming back again.

There's no question in my mind that both Barney's and The Counter (which are both burger chains) serve better burgers than this place. That said, the burgers at Phyliss' are pretty darn good. Tip: Seating options here are fairly limited. My biggest complaint about this place - service is almost painfully slow, so don't come if time is of the essence.
