Delicious and creative pastries, I love them all

oh the deliciousness. The closest thing to sitting in Paris eating a croissant.

Sweetest family run local bakery around. That AND the best bread to bring home after you immediately treat yourself to the array of croissants +++ – Have you tried the pretzels??!!! SOO GOOD.

My go-to pastries in the Bay Area! Fun, fresh, seasonal pastry concepts + a small staff that clearly pride themselves in building community relationships, the craft of baking, and delighting customers.

Portside Bakery is phenomenal. During the pandemic, this family run business would deliver their amazing loaves to keep their community smiling and fed. These days, they are still a staple in my favorite food rotations and I literally DREAM of their pastries. This is one of my favorites, but you also MUST try the one with mushroom and the one with salmon. They are unreal. Whatever you do, do not miss out on this good spot run by great people.

My weekly loaf of olive bread is second only to my daily cup of coffee in rankings of favorite rituals. It tastes like magic. It puts a smile on my face. It is the reason I bought a butter crock - I need perfectly room temperature butter at all times to garnish my weekly loaf (the butter is an unnecessary indulgence - the bread easily stands on its own). I prefer to eat the insides first while walking around, in a wildly uncivilized manner and save the crust for the toaster. There is no "right way" to enjoy the Portside Bakery bread - it tastes amazing no matter how feral or sophisticated you might be feeling. If you're a pastry person (I am), this is a stop worth every buttery sweet calorie. More magic.

I’ve been going to Portside Bakery at the Stonestown Market for over 4 years and I can’t recommend this small family owned business enough. The staff are always friendly and ready to help. Every pastry and bread option they have is consistently fresh and delicious. The line can be long, but that’s how you know it’s worth it! Plus, the staff are so efficient it moves super quick. Highly recommend!

There are many things I love about Sausalito, but Portside Bakery is at the top of that list. It's a must-try whenever we have out of town guests. The puffin? Incredible. The sourdough bread? Easily the best around. Seriously. I could go on and on, but my best advice is to snag whatever is singing to your heart, whenever you're lucky enough to stumble on to Portside.

I've been a long-time fan of Portside and can say that these are the bread and pastries I dream about on the regular. I moved away from California and now a visit home is not home without a Portside pastry. This is truly a family business that I am so proud to support as, not only is the quality of the products top of the line (from the olive loaf, decadent and flaky croissants, to the good old sourdough), but you are always welcomed by warm staff that includes mother and mother-in-law of the business owner. You can tell that every member of this bakery takes pride in their work, down to the handwritten name tags for the displays. Also, if you are really lucky during your visit you might get to see the adorable daughter of the business owner whose smile lights up your world and makes the pastry go down even sweeter. All this to say, if you are any kind of lover of things carb-y and gluten-y, don't miss out on this experience. Your avocado toast will never be the same and any other tea and pastry moment will live in Portside's shadow.

The rye is to die for.

The exaggerations in some of these reviews are hilarious. I used to live in Paris and the bread these guys make is Costco caliber in comparison. It's not bad overall but bread artisans like Marla Bakery or Pastifico Pasta at the Stonestown market (legendary olive bread) are far superior options in San Francisco and Marin.

Sam is amazing - I love seeing him and Amanda at the farmer's market and grabbing a couple loaves of olive bread and some pastries to snack on. Easily the best bakery in San Rafael and one of the best I've had in Marin.

Incredible bread and delicious pastries! They sell bread to several local restaurants and markets. Try the Kouign Amann and croissants... They taste like you are in Paris!

Incredible local bakery serving up the most delicious sourdoughs and creative takes on classic baked goods. My hands down favorite is the gruyere and green onion sourdough loaf.
