I'm not usually moved to invest in a Yelp review for a Starbuck's but I feel compelled to make an exception in this case. After all, it's just coffee...right? Well, we have not been doing Starbucks much in the last couple of years, especially this one (and others) where you have to run the gauntlet of panhandlers, their dogs, and the other hangers-on in the doorways. However, the San Rafael 4th Street Starbucks has done a lot, inside and outside, to spruce up the place. So, that's a start. However, what impressed me so much today was the friendliness, efficiency and professionalism of the baristas, Nessa and Jake. They worked together like a well-oiled machine. Tessa greeted us, (and everyone as a matter of fact) with a smile and a cheerful offer of help. She was detail oriented and didn't miss a bit of our complicated order, including using two Starbuck's gift cards on the payment. No problem for Nessa! All this while doing several other functions to keep everything in order, and delivering, behind the counter. She never missed a beat. Down the way, in perfect harmony, Jake moved like a symphony conductor, hitting every note, keeping every order perfect. He looked like he was reveling in the rush of tickets that Nessa kept sending down the line. It was just the two of them, and they were crushing' it! They say that "teamwork makes the dream work," and Nessa and Jake proved it that day. They represented Starbuck's so very well, and I will look forward to another stop there for morning coffee if that's how it's gonna be! Judging from past reviews, perhaps this location has new leadership now, and perhaps new team members, too, but what I noticed is that it is better than it was as recently as last year.

There is no place to park around this store, all park meters. No way to quickly get in and get out with a quick order.

They always confuse you because they have different names for small, medium and large! If you order by small medium and large they get confused

The smaller mom-and-pop coffee shops have better quality coffees and their people there are much much nicer sorry Starbucks but you should hit the Stars because we don't want you here
