Such a disappointment! My parents used to take me here for a special treat when I was young. I drove a long ways to return to those memories. Service was terrible.. rushing and rude waiter even though it wasn't busy. He never asked us about our side options. The mushroom sauce was red and disgusting.. real Italian mushroom sauce when home made and cooked a long time is brown! This looked like Ragu out of a jar. Limp overcooked veggies and foul cold lumpy mashed potatoes. Nothing authentic about it.. don't waste ur time or money! Olive Garden would be a step up.

First of all, I love the ambiance. This is the kind of place I frequented as a child with my parents. Love the old school charm. Great people, from the staff to the patrons. This reminds me of the Bay Area I grew up in. Been coming here for 20+ years on occasion when I'm in the area. Never had a bad meal. Steaks are always cooked to perfection. Meals are always as I ask...and I'm picky. Wish I got over here more often.

Used to be a favorite spot to meet friends. Surly lazy servers are a total turn-off. Water served in a chipped glass, orders confused. This place was once a bright spot. Now it is a fading star. I won’t go back. Same fate as Flames.

We were greeted at the host stand by an older gentleman who was not that pleasant. Being greeted promptly was nice. Our water was brought in different sized glasses which is not a good presentation. Our appetizers were lacking in quality as the fried zucchini was soggy and the potato skins lacked flavor. One of our guests ordered a well done steak that was cooked medium. It came back “fixed” and streaming hot in less than 5 minutes straight out of the microwave. Absolutely unbelievable. My wife’s NY strip steak was over cooked, tough and flavorless. My ribeye was overcooked and smothered in was more than 2 ounces of blue cheese. The steak itself was tough and lacked good flavor on its own. The only crayons you had to offer were broken ones from the Outback Steakhouse The soda was flat and blender was broken at the bar. While there, a group left because no one greeted them at their table. There was a waiter that had his keys attached to the outside of his pants. At head level they jingled in the ear every time he passed. The waitress was new and pleasant. The support staff saw on point filling drinks and clearing tables.”The Brass Door” is a solid name for a dining establishment but it should also have one. I felt that they are trying to excell . But lacking some fresh input and a new menu with higher quality ingredients they will continue to be overpriced for the experience and flat.

The food is horrible! It had been years since we've been to the brass door. About 10 years ago this place was very good. But now, do not waste your money. We went there on Valentine's Day. We ordered crabcakes, that had no crab! They were all breading; it only came with two, and we left one on the plate. We ordered a Caesar salad, that was made with iceberg lettuce. I ordered a ribeye steak mainly because it came with au gratin potatoes. No potatoes, no one bothered to inform me that it would not come with potatoes. And instead they substituted mashed potatoes without even asking. When I asked for some steak sauce, I was given first Street, Smart and final generic brand steak sauce! Who does that?? If you are under 55 years old and your hair is dark, do not go here. This place is mainly for an elderly clientele.

Returned after a long break (Covid, etc.). Food is as good as we can remember it, wide selection, and many of the menu items still on. Thankfully, prices remained in check, unlike many restaurants in the Bay Area. We are late eaters, so likely it wasn't busy any more, host was professional & seated us right away, hostess/server was very pleasant & responsive. It's normally a busy place but not loud, this time it was very quiet and we enjoyed it. Highly recommended,

Don’t do it keep going service trash , takeout chicken dinner trash, I specifically told the guy what wanted and when I got it home total opposite of what I wanted. Stay at home and cook or go there if you want some dried out tasteless chicken and carrots and rude service. Not Megan she was nice over the phone but couldn’t do much :-(

I have been going to the Brass Door since the 1970's. As much as I like to support small local restaurants the Brass Door is making hard to return after several attempts This latest visit I ordered the rib-eye steak, it was paper thin, not juicy and platted very poorly.( thrown over the veggies and potatoes ) I know what this restaurant used to be like, you needed a reservation, the food and service was outstanding. Now empty tables. gee i wonder why......

Love the French dip here. My mom loved the Salisbury steak. We aren't frequent Brass Door diners but we've never been disappointed. Yes the decor is outdated but I come for the food. Sometimes it's loud other times it's quiet. You just have to use common sense about when to visit. If you want quiet come midweek for lunch. Otherwise just try to enjoy yourselves and be grateful you can afford a nice steak dinner!

We started by ordering an appetizer. It was forgotten. We reminded Rod, our waiter and he confirmed it had been ordered. We then ordered drinks and later dinner. Still no appetizer. The dinner arrived with the appetizer and the waiter didn't apologize for forgetting to place the appetizer in a timely manner. We then had to wait a long time for our check and after receiving it, I was thinking he would've made this right by not charging us for the appetizer, but he did. Just terrible service. Not really the fault of the restaurant but disappointed in the service.

Old local restaurant with old Fashioned food menu with warm friendly service. This place has been around many years. The menu is large and there is always something you'll like. The Ruben sandwich and prime rib dip are favorites. The full bar with TVs is a hang out for a lot of regulars. Parking can be tight at night. Make a reservation for dinner. Enjoy.

This is an old-school place that executes the basics well. Large, excellent Caesar Salad with good flavors and not overly garlicky. Hade the prime rib and not was done perfectly. Service was excellent. Nothing fancy but an excellent meal at a fair price.

Pretty disappointing experience. Heard lots of great things about this place. Finally make our way to go in for a special occasion dinner and we ordered prime rib.. 20 minutes after the order we got sorry folk we ran out of prime rib. Then in place of it we order the ribeye and asked for medium cooked it came out very medium rare and was a sad substitution. The waiter was super nice but never offered a compliment dessert or something for the disappointment. Would never have went in had we known ahead and not worth the price for a steak dinner that was not cooked to how we ordered it with a lot of fat on it as well. Oh well not sure for a next time... since we had a not so good first impression.

Establishment is nice, looks old fashioned. Service was excellent nothing to complain about. Food, alot of choices of meats but decided on a salmon plate to play it safe.
