Honestly some of the best Japanese food I've had in the Bay Area. Everything is fairly priced and portions are large, sushi was very tasty and super diverse menu. Great service and clean place. Nothing to complain about, if you're craving Japanese food in the San Ramon area, this is the spot.

This place is a gem. Found it randomly after a hike in the area.Walk in and immediately get transferred into an authentic Japanese restaurant. We came for a late lunch. The fish was so fresh! Every sushi roll melted in your mouth. Staff was attentive. Highly recommend.We had a few rolls and our favorites we’re the cherry blossom, hurricane, and lion king.

Overall fantastic experience every time. The food is great, the service is exceptional (especially Kate, Rika and the younger gentleman). This is a neighborhood favorite, and I’m so grateful this restaurant is a few mins from home. No matter the occasion, Ukai does not disappoint!! Highly recommend for folks who value quality Japanese food. The sushi is fire, the karaage is perfect, the oysters are so fresh, and the sake is great. All in all, this is a wonderful restaurant for families, date night, or even a quiet solo meal.Kid-friendliness: They treat my 2 year old so well, they have little plastic dishes for him to use, they’re so incredibly accommodating and helpful, and they’re so kind and understanding no matter what happens with him! My toddler loves this place!

This place seriously never disappointsIt was a hot day but their fish was super fresh. This is really important to me since I'm pregnant right now and can only eat a selection of fish and everything we had was super fresh and clean.Their servers are all very attentive even though they're usually super busy. They stopped by multiple times to check if we need anything, refilled our water without us having to ask, etc.They have a huge parking lot too.
Really enjoyable dinner here. Nigiri pieces fresh and delicious, sushi rolls excellent size, and spicy beef dish with the dinner combo was out of control good. I’ve had spicy in my day and this was one of the spicier dishes I’ve had. Still, the flavor was so amazing it didn’t stop me. Can’t wait to return!

Came by for a quick lunch with my friend during the weekday. Only a few empty tables were left inside. Nice atmosphere and music. Ordered the lunch chicken katsu and Chef's choice Nigiri that came with a side salad & California roll. Nigiri took a bit long to come out which cut into my lunch hour from work, but other than that the food was fresh and the katsu portion was a decent size (enough to take home). Very happy with the food overall. Will be back again!

I've been coming here since they opened. Nice family run Japanese restaurant specializing in fresh ingredients and original recipes. My usual are the sashimi Ukai Combo sashimi, Agadashi Tofu, Krarage Chicken, Spicy Chicken, Ms White roll, to name just a.few. The fish is fresh and the chicken juicy and well seasoned. Love Ukai!
