Great service. Friendly- senses of humor too. Small mom and pop type venue. Sushi rolls were average/typical . We really liked the samurai roll. A lot. Located next to Sports Basement, which is why we stopped by. We will likely return.

I took a ramen soup which looked and tasted like an instant soup from a box in safeway. The service was good though.

It's pretty great good sushi. Pretty fast if you're looking for a work lunch spot.

The only thing good here was the tempura. The miso soup was not hot. Chicken katsu was too dry and hard. Sashimi did not seem too fresh.

I'm glad we went here on a limb. Tucked away from the busy streets and crowds of the nearby shopping center, Yanagi is a good choice. The place is smaller than expected, but the service is quick and cordial. Yanagi has a healthy menu - the bento boxes seem to be popular but their sushi is on par. I wouldn't call it the absolute freshest or thick, but it is quite appropriately priced. We were not dissatisfied. Overall, I hope to make this tucked away treasure my go to "to go" sushi place.

The sushi is delicious, always fresh. Great customer service! Try the titanic and scallop crunch, sushi boy and girl are also good!

Sat on the patio and had one of their lunch specials, 3 piece sashimi with a spicey tuna roll, miso soup and salad. The sashimi (tuna and hamachi) was very fresh aand large cuts, and the roll was just the perfect amount of spice and also generous in size. Good value and quality for the amount received.

Best sushi and Japanese food in the Tri-Valley area. Large selection of sushi rolls and good quality fish.

Consistantly good for food and service, one of my favorite eateries.

Food was good, but it took almost an hour to get three rolls.

Food is always good. We have been coming here for years and we are always satisfied. A little bit pricey, but it's expected for Japanese food plus this is atill cheaper than other Japanese places in San Ramon

Every now and then I like to be a little spontaneous and play a little Russian roulette by stopping at a small little restaurant, fingers crossed hoping that it's a hidden gem. Unfortunately, even after four years this place is not a hidden gem and quite honestly was definitely risking getting majorly sick by just looking around the place. Yes, the people that were working there were nice but the place was run down, dirty and just looked plain miserable. Booth covered in dust and grime (literally turning dark grey when they are supposed to be red) parts of the wall and floor falling apart. This place being open seems like both a safety/health concern to remain open. But you know many restaurants like this just slip through the cracks. With such an open kitchen, I could see how unorganized, dirty and messy everything was. A site I tried avoid looking at - but was hard to resist noticing! I would hate to see these people out of business but in all honesty, bring your place up to code or close up shop, what good are you doing? The sushi is not even good. One thing that stood out to me was I believe it a convenient spot for locals, fast - not usually a long wait and decently priced. But you pay at a PRICE. Luckily I did not get sick, but was anticipating possibly getting sick after some of the things I noticed in the restaurant after paying. The lady who swiped my card had wasabi still on her fingers, didn't wash her hands in between, and I can only imagine that she's handling money and other things before going right back to preparing food. Locals need to understand what quality their body deserves, this is not it! And I wish health code was taken more seriously because it's hard finding decent sushi places that use safe techniques, and unfortunately this one is not one of them. Visitors be aware! Come here at your own risk!

My favorite San Ramon Japanese restaurant. The staff are awesome (family owned and run).
