Chapter One: the modern local

The BEST cheeseburger I've ever had. The service was great and the vibe was cool. Definitely going back. Oh did I mention the almost shoestring fabulous duck fat fries? So good.

Super fun place to watch Arsenal games if any gooners are in town or close by!!! Arsenal 3, Madrid ZERO. Will remember that forever.

Steak on Steak Salad was rare (asked for medium rare) and when we told the waitress, it came back well done, almost like beef jerky. Flavor on the shrimp tacos was great but they served bay shrimp instead of large shrimp as pictured on Yelp. Service and atmosphere were both great.

Staff was accommodating but as an obviously newly married gal wanted more attention 😂 Food great and will come back regardless.

I used to work in the industry for 10+ years, I am aware it was obviously St. Pattys day + their 14 year anniversary party. However, it was busy, but not SLAMMED. We just never got service! We got sat at our table by who I am assuming was the owner/manager, sat there for over 15 min with no menus, no drinks etc. The owner manager advised someone to take our drink order which he did but we ended up watching as our “server” was talking to other people, showing them videos on their phone for a legit 20 min. Then we saw that after 20 min gone by, he realized he never put our drinks in (we watched him the whole time after he took our drink order, he never went to the terminal once to put in our drinks order, he was just chatting with other guests). At this point it is about 7:20pm and we had a reso at 6:45pm, no drinks on the table, no menu. My wife is pregnant and wasnt trying to wait on these guys all night so we just left and got some tacos elsewhere. Super disappointing.

Excellent service, great food! A wonderful place to have dinner. Really enjoyed the restaurant. Will be back.

The food, service, and accommodations were excellent, but the television was so noisy that we couldn't talk to each other.

They changed their menu to the extent that it is no longer a Foodie Standard like it was back in the day. In addition they no longer serve up craft cocktails.

Not enough wait staff. Food did not come out on time for our party to eat together. It took 15 minutes to get a bill and it was totally wrong. No coffee refill until meal was almost finished. Bathrooms need a cleaning. 2nd time there. Disappointed.

JJ & his crew did a fantastic job with the food. Natalie took great care with us & she has an amazing attitude.

Cool place for drinks, service was great. The empanadas very decent.

Ryan, JJ, Ayda, Chris and all the chefs and cooks really made our small wedding reception an incredible time! Talk about attention to detail! Really appreciate all of the love and energy that their team put into making it a great time for all of our guests. I'm really looking forward to a repeat in the near future and you can bet we'll be referring folks to Chapter One! Really appreciate you guys! Special shoutout to Ryan for handling all the details behind the scenes and JJ, Ayda, Chris and all the kitchen staff for all of the day-of logistics! Our guests were more than pleased!

I was visiting the LA area and stumbled onto this restaurant randomly -- so glad I did! The vegan tacos with heart of palm were delicious! Very nice staff and bright open space -- in a very cute little neighborhood. I forgot my credit card there and we left town the next day before I realized. I called Chapter One and JJ (I assume it was the manager) offered to mail my card to me! Just received it and am SO relieved. I would definitely support this business next time in LA because the food is great and the people that work there are even better! Thank you, JJ & Chapter One!

I am new to Santa Ana, and the building I moved into had a welcome package to visit Chapter One and other local businesses that are collaborating to support and keep the community strong.

I went in with my daughter and he boyfriend
for the champagne with brunch, but got so much more

I was impressed with the food, the staff and the embodiment of the whole environment

It was too good to be true so I had to go back a second time to see if consistency rang true, or if I visited on a good day, and was lucky with my "Crap Shoot",

I have visited 5 times now within two months and not only is the food consistently supercalafriggendelicious!, the servic3 remains outstanding.

You will be missing out if you don't go to Chapter One
